I have had nothing but problems with my XA2 H4113 since day one. Especially with mobile connectivity I therefore bought a new SIM-card today, from a different provider than my normal one. But I found that also with this provider the XA2 has problems just to connect to the network. It is searching for ever without connecting then I reboot a few time, maybe switch flight mode on/off a few times and maybe get lucky that it connects.

I’m sure you have all heard this story over and over again but today I saw something that I have never seen before, while the phone was searching and unable to connect to the network: in the Mobile Networks setting suddenly the text ”disabled by Sailfish device manager” appeared, this line of text was written just above the line ”Network mode Prefer 4G”. The wording is my translation from Danish so I’m not sure what exactly it would be in English. I tried to change to English but I have been unable to reproduce the message since.

Has anyone else seen this message? Does anyone know what is causing the device manager to disable network connections? Could there be an error here that is part of the whole mobile network connection problem?

No, I didn't encounter this message/bug (yet). However, I recall that I solved some issues with SIM cards and connectivity via devel-su systemctl stop ofono; devel-su rm -rf /var/lib/ofono/*; reboot but please try it with caution

I've been having this exact same issue but in dual sim mode. Your suggestion to mess with flight mode a few times actually got the damn sim card to connect which I've been struggling to do for ages. I dunno why it's doing this but sometimes this sim card will just say "denied" when it tries to find the network. This really needs to be fixed.

I can also confirm that after turning the second sim card back on the sim card says "Disabled by sailfish device manager" and both sim cards display "Network: Denied"

For me this whole thing happens when I have 2 sim cards in the device and ONLY when I have 2 sim cards in the device. If I just have 1 sim card then everything seems to work perfectly fine. I dunno what the heck is going on

@tuxdude. Thank you for confirming that it’s not just me. You have also seen this strange message of Sailfish for no apparent reason disabling mobile connections through its device manager... Obviously my XA2 H4113 is also a dual sim phone but I never used the second sim card so in my case the problems has been on going for six months with just one sim card in the phone, and with sim cards from different providers. I have previously been in contact with Jolla Zendesk about the problems with mobile connections without getting any suggestions how to improve the situation, or any information about the issue at all really. How are we going to get some kind of dialog with Jolla or at least some information from them on this issue and how they see this improving? They just ignore our need for information – will the XA2 still be unusable in say 6 months time...

@DK-Sailor I'm not quite sure why the device does this but I'm going to chalk it up to a bug in sailfish os itself because it doesn't happen if I flash android onto the device and try 2 sim cards. It's very bizarre.

Also bizarre is the fact that these issues only happen with one of my two sim cards. One sim card seems to consistently connect fine while the other one throws a fit. I have no idea why.

Hopefully Jolla addresses this sooner rather than later

After nonrelated reflashing I got those issues too. Before I tested this thoroughly after reflash I rsynced /home/nemo but I don't know if it has anything to do with it.

Before reflash other then backup inability SFX worked really great (version 3.0.3.9).
