Hi guys,

this is not a question but a report. I started using Sailfish directly after the public release after the J1. after a second J1, the Jolla tablet and Jolla C, I used the Sony Xperia X for a long time. After it broke I had no adequate replacement, only the announced release of Sailfish X for the XA2 range. So I bought the XA2 plus. due to the delay I was forced to used the Android OS on it for 2 months. when the SFX was finally out, I bought a normal XA2 for test purposes and to see how it works. for your info, my personal status changed, ai started my own business so I needed a daily driver I can rely on it. after flashing Sailfish on the XA2 I was disappointed. It felt like a step back from Xperia X to XA2. features, well working features were not existing anymore, like fingerprint, dual sim, or a proper working wifi without battery drain. Android was disappointing but Sailfish was more. so I used Android coz of the need of office abilities, dual sim and simply a phone I can rely on.

Now after the 3.0.3 release I decided to switch back to Sailfish. and this is my report what I like, miss, dislike or need compared to Android

I start with the positve aspects.

  • speed

its so much faster, even booting is faster

  • beautiful

looks much better

  • no apps no one needs

only the one who needs can downlod

  • UX

Android has users but no experience

  • finally the XA2 is fully usable

  • swipe swipe swipe

  • the keyboard

my daily communication is in 3 languages. so great to type and type without such a damn auto correction

  • so easy to use

no menus in a menu of a menu

  • modding the system

neutral:

o blootooth

at least it's working - now

negative:

  • after a half year no fingerptint

  • Android layer

even the background services are activated they're not coming through, when they're displayed I can tap on them but the app is not opening.

  • wifi sometimes not stable

  • Jolla apps

calendar, email, medias, and especially the browser is more than outdated

  • since the J1 the Google account loses the connection

  • tutorial

after all the years with all the devices, all the re-flashings and factory resets I had to make the tutorial at least 20 times

--the most worst: I was shocked about the apps. so many good apps are not maintained since months, or even years. seems the active community is fewer. and apps I require become more and more decentralized. senseless in my eyes...

at the end. I didn't regret switching back to SFOS. It's still a great software with a huge potential. the only sad point to me it's unused in so many aspects. I hope Jolla will focus to the implementation of essential things soon.

For future reference: you can skip the tutorial by touching the corners of the display in clockwise order starting from top left corner before doing anything else in the tutorial.

You can skip the mandatory tutorial in the initalization phase by tapping all the corners of the screen when the tutorial is running.

Upper left, upper right, lower right, lower left I think.

" I hope Jolla will focus to the implementation of essential things soon. " they are on the way for this. currently they fix the software for the xa2 serie. then comes nfc and fingerprint as new parts. by v3.1.x... maybe...

How many people use the fingerprint sensor on a phone and how many use the browser? Priority.
