I'm trying to activate Whatsapp on a newly flashed XperiaXA dual sim with Hossa 3.0.3.10. After I have entered my phone number Whatsapp states that I have to give it permissions to send sms from Android settings app, but it won't open correctly when I tap the button for that. All other apps that need permissions have requested it and I have been able to accept or deny it upfront, but not Whatsapp. Is there another way to give an Android app permissions, using Sailfish X?

Install coderus' AliendalvikControl from OpenRepos. It gives you an extra item to your Settings under which you'll find access to various Android settings thingies including app permissions. You'll also be able to disable various annoying Android sound effects which I believe are on as default in aliendalvik, and give gag order to Android apps you don't want notifications from.

In case you're not familiar with OpenRepos: you'll need the Storeman app for easiest access to get it:

https://openrepos.net/content/osetr/storeman

Alternatively, you can download the rpm directly: https://openrepos.net/content/coderus/aliendalvik-control

I recommend Storeman though, because OpenRepos has plenty of other fun stuff, and you may want to disable AliendalvikControl when updating your Sailfish OS, which you can easily do with Storeman.
