Hi, Twitter is no longer working for me with the stock browser. All Twitter links I have tried, give the message below, I'm using Hossa, 3.0.3.10 on Sony X, with sailfish-browser.

Sorry! We did something wrong.

Has anyone else seen this?

For some other non-working sites, i have additional application laucher with customized user agent. Twitter seems to work with it.

sailfish-browser-custom-ua.desktop

[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Name=Custom UA
Icon=icon-launcher-browser
Exec=env CUSTOM_UA="Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/35.0.1916.153 Safari/537.36" invoker -s --type=browser -G /usr/bin/sailfish-browser %U
Comment=Sailfish UI application

Magic happens with env CUSTOM_UA="Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/35.0.1916.153 Safari/537.36" in Exec line

(This is old, works with 2.0.1.11, please feel free to complain if it does not work with 3.x.x.x)

So propably nothing wrong with the browser, just Twitter limited browsers they support - soon only with Chrome?

Very disturbing if that is indeed the case.

Have added a user-agent override to the browser just for twitter that's more similar to our real one but just drops the Firefox element. This lands you on the same old mobile site, and with a better initial warning banner too. Apparently these overrides get updated by the browser automatically every so often, so you should get that soon. There's still a problem here that needs solving - Twitter's new mobile site tries to do something with the browser that doesn't work - but it's going to take more time to debug.

(That old site is much faster though)

The next Sailfish OS update will contain a fix to the user agent of Sailfish Browser. This should ensure that Twitter can be accessed.

I am not surprised. The browser engine is very old (March 2016)

Guess that it is also possible to tweak the useragent setting via the "general.useragent.override" entry available via about:config.

  • Enter about:config in the browser's address bar.
  • Search for general.useragent.override
  • Change the setting to the useragent string that you like and press [Accept]

an useragent that works (as date to this post): Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Mobile; rv:68.0) Geeko/20100101 Firefox/68.0

engine is 45.0, but you must trick site to think it's at least 68, so some might not work correctly.

After the recent update, some pages started working again ( ampparit.com , for example) while others did not ( suomenkuvalehti.fi , for example).
