Hey community,

Since update from 3.0.3.9, I can only select networks from my provider (2g, 3g and 4g). There's a bunch of greyed out items, all with my network name. Sometimes, I can see another's network name, also greyed out, but it's rare.

Roaming is activated.

Does someone knows if this is known issue or if there's a fix ? While several reported network issues, I couldn't find this specific problem.

I tried to factory reset to no avail. Thinking of reinstalling Android to see if it fixes that.

Update : I went back to android to solve this issue (along with hotspot instability), on wich roaming networks where marked as "forbidden". So there is indeed some trouble with the APN settings on this phone. On android I was able to bypass this by choosing to connect to the forbidden network of my choice, which Sailfish prevents.

Update : this issue was reference in the 3.1 update known issues section for Xperia X. Well it happens to the Xperia XA2 too ! "Manual network/carrier search lists all networks by the same name (the name of the SIM provider). Use an automatic search. If not possible, you need to try several items in the manual search results, unfortunately. The topmost item is not necessarily the one that can serve you (still valid with most SIM cards)"

I asked once and I was told that it is a provider issue. Indeed it takes longer to establish a connection. Also sometimes switching to flight mode can speed up things.

For me personally, I have never seen 3G symbol displayed before, but now I see it more often - perhaps if available. I have roaming off and because the provider uses foreign infrastructure, internet does not work unless roaming is allowed.

Perhaps they are right and it has something to do with the provider. Did you check your settings?

Thanks for your answer @deloptes.

APN settings are right, roaming was tested working with a spare android phone (3g only).

My provider doesn't require roaming for regular connection, I only do need it when abroad.

Not a duplicate. Although I read this and it looks close. I cannot connect to foreign networks at all. Their names are wrong, but also, they are greyed out.

Does anyone still experience roaming issues after the 3.1.0.11 update? Thanks for the answers.

My XA2 dual worked very well / roamed in Sweden with 3.1.0.11 with sim Telia Fi.

Also with 3.1.0.11 domestic roaming is not working in Denmark.

I have had this problem ever since some Danish network providers started sharing 4G network through domestic roaming. I have reported this several times but I have not experiences any improvements over the last 8 months regardless of Sailfish version.

Last week I changed my network provider to one who provides their own 4G network in the area where I live and now my XA2 H4113 is connecting to mobile network just fine where I live, but I may then have problems in other areas of Denmark where domestic roaming is in use… I have not been abroad since changing operator, so I don’t know if international roaming is working.

DK-Sailor This question is not about domestic roaming although it might be linked. There is another thread somewhere about that.

Jiit I switched my phone to Lineage+microg in order to repair this bug. It followed me on Lineage. APN settings where correct. I found an app by my provider (free) to 'configure the sim card', called Mobile Config. After I ran that, it started to work again. I see no change in APN settings or elsewhere.

On lineage my roaming still does not work properly, since phone refuses to auto-connect and I need to select manually for roaming. I don't see how a bug can survive an OS change. Maybe there is some state stored in the sim blob ?

Not yet a Sailfish user, as I'm holding out for resolutions to issues just like this. Has Jolla now stopped recommending using a new Xperia with the Android firmware first? Even if this is only on a beta basis, I am very happy for the progress.

I visited Stockholm Sweden this Saturday. My XA2 dual sim H4113 with 3.1.0.11 with Finnish Saunalahti Huoleton 4G did roam but only 2G. Tried changing my usual setting Prefer 4G to Prefer 3G but that changed nothing, only got 2G. SIM Slot 2 is empty, but I have not disabled slot 2 in SIM card settings. Maybe this was just a bad choice of automatic network selection and would have got 4G via manual search.
