Now we have to navigate, swiping down to the blue text-message bubble, touch that, and only then into reading what has arrived. It can be more difficult to get to the message as quickly as possible than it should be, i think. While for example walking at the same time, driving a car etc.. -I often end up into terrible mistakes, as you try to do accomplish these gestures fast. Why no ability to just touch the message icon on the top left corner?

I aggree and like the idea. This could also work with notifications for missed phone calls. I also wondered why these notifications do not appear in the notification area accessed by swiping from below.

I have certainly tapped the icon and similar icons many times before. Seems like a natural thing to want to do.

First, this is a duplicate of this: https://together.jolla.com/question/491/notification-icons-in-lock-screen-as-buttons/

Then, are you really scrolling to find the Message app? You just have to swipe from bottom to open Events view then you will be able to tap the icon. It's almost as fast as directly taping the icon.

Third: using your phone while driving is a dangerous behaviour!
