Hi! I have Experia X with SFOS 3.0.0 .Few days ago the camera went crazy, so I decided, I'll restore the factory state. I created a backup to SD card ( was easy and fast ). I reset my phone wthout any trouble. After restart, I tried to restore from backup file, but... It's been standing still for over three hours at "Gallery Reading data". The device became very hot, and now don't do nothing. What can be done in this case?

Do you have your photos on the sd card? I recently recognised, that pictures are missing from my backups. Maybe the backup routine has some problems with the sd card option.

If you don't mind a little hand work, you can open backup file (.tar) with 7zip, copy pictures and contacts etc. and manually add them to a newly flashed device.

Dear Nerevareeeeeee! Thank you for the answer. Pictures and music doesn't matter, I have a copies them. I use Debian Linux, I can to open the .tar file, but what do I do with an all.ics file (calendar entries ), a notes.sql file ( Notes ), a commhistory-tool_groups.dump file ( Messages )?

Another big problem is that I lost my trust...

Have nice day for all!

  1. Well, notes sql can be opened in any text editor (cough, notepad++, sorry, reflex) or dropped and renamed into home/.local/share/jolla-notes/ bla-bla /Databases/
    1. messages here: https://together.jolla.com/question/171073/restore-only-call-log-and-message-history-from-backup/
    2. calendar here: https://together.jolla.com/question/208156/importing-calendar-file-allics-from-a-originlal-jolla-phone-to-sailfish-x-on-xa2/

You can also remove large items from a backup file.

This might be a dumb question, but did you update your phone again to the version at which you made the backup? As far as I know the backup won't restore to an older version of the OS than what is was made on.

Feel free to ignore me if I'm wrong or it's not applicable. :-)

Dear Nova! I created backup SFOS 3.0.0.8, and I tried to restore on same OS.

Hi All!

I was looking at the problem the other way around. ( IMPORTANT! Make a copy from the original backup file, before work with it! ) I saved all media files from Gallery>blobs>Pictures / Videos to other place, then deleted them. I copied the modified .tar file back to SD card and restored the phone. Later, I simply copied the photos, and videos back to their place. This solve my problem. Many thanks for help!

Best regards : NN9
