Hello,

The last time Here Maps was updated in Jolla Harbour is June 2017.

Currently, public transit itineraries aren't supported anymore.

Could the Jolla team update the version currently in the store ?

Regards.

Guillaume

Here Maps needs to be replaced. Its a dead app, rotting and nearly unusable. The only viable native solution is Pure Maps which sadly isn't in the store yet.

I disagree. Puremaps is a great app and deserves to get in the Jolla store, but Here Maps is better. It works very well in SailfishOS and is far better than Puremaps for driving. It supports Public Transit itineraries, which isn't the case for Puremaps.

So far I have only navigated using Google Maps and Here WeGo (using microG). I have no idea where Here gets maps but they seem to be OK in Finland. Google Maps is quite annoying when it "helpfully" provides new directions every few minutes. It finds well a coffee break spot, though. Here is just best even when it crashes every few hours. It might be caused by XA2 Android beta bugs.

Sadly Jolla is happy with having an android app as its official mapping app. Doubt there is going to be any further development for the native app.

Here Technologies (trading as HERE) is a company that provides mapping and location data and related services to individuals and companies. It is majority-owned by a consortium of German automotive companies (namely Audi, BMW, and Daimler), whilst other companies also own minority stakes. Its roots date back to U.S.-based Navteq in 1985, which was acquired by Finland-based Nokia in 2007. Here is currently based in Amsterdam.

I have both Pure Maps and Here Maps on my Xperia X.

Pure Maps is very good and one of it's map source options is Here Maps however that option appears to require a live data connection to work, a bit like Google maps needs. Pure Maps works also with other map sources, like Open Street Maps with maps downloaded onto your device for offline use.

My preference is to use Here Maps, mainly for the live traffic updates. It is more polished and I prefer the voice options. I use the Android version of Here Maps or more correctly Here We go.

Pure Maps is still a very very good app.
