Hello, I have installed Sailfish X on my Xperia Xa2. After this I bought the licence for the Android support. I used PayPal for payment. Then I tried to install the Android support. No icon is avaiable. Must I activate the "early access" in the jolla-account to be able to use the Android support? Thanks in advance

No need to be early access to get alien dalvik working, the two things are not related.

I'm still using an original Jolla1, so I have little experience of Xperia, but, once you have applied for early access in your jolla account, then perhaps to update your login details for Jolla Store on your device and try installing Android support again.

When you say "no icon is available" I take it you mean the Android Support app is not showing in Jolla Store ~ Jolla apps...?

Thank you for your comment, you are right, I mean the "Android Support app" which is not showing after installation. The installation is running but the icon disappears after the installation has finished. Maybe my payment has not been processed and I was just too fast with the installation. How long does it usually take to install Android support after payment?

If you managed to install "Android™ support" from the Jolla Store, then it's okay. It doesn't display an app icon in the Launcher, because it's not an app.

(It works as a background service, these are controlled from the Settings app. Only apps - i.e.: software that open a window and you interract with - appear as icons).

  • Regarding payment: as soon as you have paid, you should have received an e-mail telling you to download (within a few minutes). It means it's associated with your account.

  • Then you need to make sure that you have a "jolla" account installed on your phone. (Settings app -> Accounts at the bottom)

When both of the above are done, in the Jolla Store app, the Android™ support appears and is installable.

That's it, nothing more.

I tried to install the Android support. No icon is avaiable.

Installing "Android Support" does not add any icon to the Launcher. It just gives the ability to your phone to run Android applications.

  • Go to Settings app, Info section, Android™ support : here you can start/stop it.
  • You can download and install APKs. e.g.: go to F-Droid and click the Download button. The APK will be installed and you'll get an F-Droid app store icon in Launcher.
  • Some android apps are in the Jolla Store, e.g.: the Aptoid android app store is there.

etc.

Thanks for the tip. I will install the control function. But maybe the Android support is not unlocked yet and I have to be patient!?

As said above: Normally, as soon as you received your paiment confirmation, and as soon as you have a "jolla account" in Settings registered on your phone, there will be immediately a "Android support" installable appearing in "Jolla store".

If that is not the case, you need to contact the official Jolla support on their Zendesk (as a paying customer, you can get support from the Jolla people themselves, not only by other users like us).

But there will be no icon appearing in Launcher. Again the Android support is not an App, it's a service.

You have to reboot your phone, enter Jolla Store and you will see the Alien dalvik package to install.

Thanks for this information. I have already done a reboot several times, but without being able to install the "Android Support App". The symbol disappears regularly after installation. In the Jolla Store, the Android Support is displayed as "installed". But the corresponding icon does not appear in the list of installed apps. How can I check if alien-dalvik is running?

Open Settings and scroll down. Do you see 'Android support' almost at the end of the list?

Thanks for all the answers. In fact, there was a little misunderstanding on my part. In the Jolla Store on the one hand the "Android Support" is offered, on the other hand, the "Store App". I did not realize that these are two different functions. I have learned that I still have much to learn. Many thanks for the help. I have now installed the store app and everything is fine. Without the comments made here, I would not have noticed my own mistake. I hope to be a little smarter in the future. Thank you for your patience with a beginner
