browser annoying unresponsive

so far i experienced some issues with the browser (on a xa2):

  • navigation items are often not reachable during page loading
  • when the items are reachable, they need a long time to respond (like the old page keeps loading)
  • a forward button would be a nice2have
  • when going backwards or switching tabs, the whole page reloads, not using any cache...

imho, these are some of the showstoppers for a daily driver!

the forward button appears, when you press the right button

@mettska: what do you mean by "right button"?

The menu button in the lower right corner.

In my case (XA2, SFOS 3.0.3.10) there are 5 icons when pressing the menu: new tab, search, add to favourites, share, transfers. But no "forward"-button

It's only present after you went back from a page.

Oh, you feel my pain, bro. I have same issues with system browser. Also I've noticed that it uses old gecko 45 engine. Hope developers will update browser ASAP :)

This is more a comment, but no answer. An updated browser is a lot of hard work. We have sort of a Gecko-to-Silica interface right now, but Gecko is EOL and Jolla doesn't publicly tell where they're heading.

If you have full Sailfish license with Android Support, one temporary solution is to download an android browser. For example, the Opera browser works just fine for me. I have also tested DuckduckGo, which also works flawlessly.

My favorite Browser at the moment is "Kiwi Browser" (Genie).

another thing: when you close all tabs, you have to select open a new tab (to open a new tab). but why? if there are no tabs open, you can show the open new tabs immediatelly, instead of clicking and holding again...

also a restore closed tab would be n1ce

more quirks: bottom bar is not disappearing, so i cannot confirm the dsgvo... when i close a tab, it shows me a (random) tab, but no tab is selected!
