... nearly completely and seems to cause heavy CPU spikes for system_server.

why are you using google stuff anyway?? there are enought alternative services that are even better than this google spycrap...

try fruux for contacts ans calendar... ;-)

Because of two reasons:

  1. I still have to use android apps anyway due to SFOS is still incomplete in some areas
  2. Lack of alternatives compatible with SFOS.

If you say SFOS has support for fruux - I'll stop using google immediately :)

Although from the other side, if support of google accounts is declared - it should work, at least for the people how can't switch from google at the moment.

Thats right, it should work even with google. fruux is suported! and there are alternatives to the play sore. yalp store for example (same source anonymous account) and many other stores... ;-) or apk download sites...

but: With google you get a calendar and a todo list, Fruux gives you just the calendar. (If google sync was working, you could edit your google calendar and your google todo list with your android ap'. plus: Take any public transport app and they will (try to) send your itinerary to a google calendar.

And you pay with your data/privacy... so i switched to sailfish because of the googlefree system. ;-) but everyone has to decide them selves. fruux has also todolist by the way...

On a just-flashed XA2 i'm facing the same issue (CPU spikes from system_server process), even if I dont have any google account registered on that device. I tried to unistall and reinstall androd support but it didnt get solved. Then I decide to do a factory reset but nothing changed. As long as Android Support is activated, system_server process is there, using 90% -100% of CPU, making the phone lagging and heating. Stopping it solves the issue. Did you flashed your XA2 recently and with the last sailfish update (3.1.011)? I am trying to solve this problem but i cannot figure it out.

+1 Have expected a correction update for 3.1.0.11 since 18th July, 2019. Let's hope it comes during this week. Otherwise I'm getting very f.c.ed feeling again,. Battery drain is high etc etc etc.

for me having a process using 100% of CPU is a "flash back to android" issue. I hope they will solve that. Did you have this issue with previous version of sailfish? Did you flashed it using Sony vendor binary images V16 or V17B? Did you have google accounts activated or not? I am asking just to figure this issue out better,

My XA2 has v16 and I have taken Google account away. I have been with XA2 from early May on. Not really enjoy at all.

Did you have this issue with previous software version?

itdoesntmatt ( 2019-08-28 17:16:38 +0300 )edit

In a way or an other yes. Battery drain has been quite constantly all the time. Now it has become worse with 3.01.0.11. Early has to be noted the beta Android support, which is now regarded as near "ready". My XA2 has been heating in some degree all the time. Battery log app shows both high curent values between 200 - 500 mA and high rowing cpu values when display on. I hope that some fixes shall come very soon. Many these problems have been reported in several discussion in jtc. I do not know more. Just waiting for some fix soon.

i think I spotted the problem, as I'm able to riproduce it multiple times. Whenever I set a cardav account (in my case using disroot.org) and then I restart AD the issue the process system_server do start to eat cpu. If I delete the same account, after a restart AD, system_server come back to normal value. Disabling the account is not enough, you have to delete it. It's the second time got problem due to carddav sync in SFOS. On Xperia X was about the same thing but the process involved was "buteo-sync" process (iI can't recall the actual name).
