Hi all,
my Xperia X broke for the second time and I'm not going to fix it this time. I've been using my old JP1 for couple of weeks now but unfortunately the device is not reliable anymore. e.g. outer speaker randomly stops playing sounds and thus I cannot rely on it to weak me up with alarm. The device also feels very sluggish compare to X experience (what a shocker with almost 6 years old device ;-)
Does anyone know if there is a plan to release fully supported phone with Sailfish OS in Europe any time soon? I'm not counting the XA2 as this device is still in some kind of "alfa" state. Also there is still disappointment with Jolla's decision not to fully support X (e.g. NFC, right?) so I don't really trust them with XA2 neither. Not to mention that the Sony phones seems to be rather second-rate devices compare to the competetion.
Is there any chance to get Sailfish OS phone in Europe or is it time to leave the boat and try e.g. some android phone with LineageOS?
Thanks for your answers

I don't know if it's true but Jolla stated in release notes of 3.1x.x. that " With many bugfixes and improvements to its Android™ App Support, plus the addition of fingerprint authentication, this update brings Sailfish X for Xperia XA2 officially out of beta!" So X and XA are out of beta state.

My friend has Xiaomi Redmi Note 5/ 5 Plus with community port and it's really stable port. If you don't need android support and Irda I can recomend it to you.

I for one am quite content with a XA2 as daily driver. But then, I only "need" one simple Android app thus not relying heavily on Alien Dalvik.

I wouldn't mind to get rid of android support but current lack of official apps/support doesn't really allow me to. That's also the reason why I started to eye LineageOS for the first time with sudden death of my X.
Lack of any communication from Jolla doesn't really help neither. Why is it so hard to tell us what can we expect in lets say next half year? That is also why I asked if anyone know anything about new devices with Sailfish

@sepuka: it is July, nothing - literally nothing - happens related to business in Finland this time...

I bet they will get back to work in August, let's hope they will react... ;)

on the other han if they announce any new, supported model the god save xa2 users! : D

SailfishOS on XA2 ultra works better than on my X, apart for some minor problems. After 2 weeks, let me share my experiences (I run 3.0.3 beta, 3.1 is out, but I haven't tried it. Some issues might be resolved, others aren't):

  • XA2 supports more android apps
  • Netflix isn't working (for me at least) on XA2, but I think that's also true for X, but I didn't test
  • Android apps on XA2 have a way better permission system. I thought my whatsapp wasn't working, but I had to set the permissions in the settings. Really, it is better. I feel way more secure in using those apps on my XA2 compared to my X
  • You can transfer your whatsapp messages to your XA2, in contrary to what others say. Just set the permissions in the settings
  • Whatsapp doesn't play videos. This should be solved in 3.1
  • Android apps sometimes loose their access to the internet. This usually happens when switching from wifi to 4g or back. You can restart android support, and get internet access back. I never got this while using the apps, only when the device is not being used. This is annoying, but I can live with that. This might be just me, and this might be fixed with 3.1
  • With 10% battery, my cpu gets 100% usage, and my phone drains battery fast and becomes very slow. With battery saving turned on, I didn't had this problem anymore, but I don't know if my phone even has gotten under 10% yet. I haven't seen other reports about this, so it might just be me.
  • Photos are a gazillion times better than on the X. Especially from up close.
  • Fingerprint unlocking should be working with the update. With the beta, it doesn't.

Go for the XA2, I like it better than my X. Android loosing internet acces, that's annoying, but again, it might be just me, and it might be fixed with the update.

Thank you for your answer. I was quite decided to skip XA2 but I guess I can wait for 3.1. to get out to see whether it's going to improve things.
I'm still hoping that we can get phone if preinstalled Sailfish as there would be no problems with warranty.

It must be added that android applications will not connect via bluetooth. :(

Netfix app version 4.16.1 (mostly) works for me I think. Can't sign in to confirm all features right now because family keep messing up with the password.

There may be the issue that it works on wifi but not on mobile, though. I think it is that you need to run it on wifi the first time. Afterwards the mobile should work.

I have a hunch the 10 % battery issues is some energy saving thingy, possibly from the Android side. And yes, the usability disappears at 10 % for me too, I think especially in the Android apps. As a solution I have tried turning energy saver off in the Android Settings, can't report yet.

microG (the Android side Google Services spoofer) makes a note of mentioning that you should turn the energy saver off for microG.

My whatsapp still doesn't play videos in 3.1.0.11. Fingerprint unlocking seems to work mightily fine.

I can recommend XA2, it's suitable as a daily driver since the 3.1 update - fingerprint, Bluetooth handsfree, Android apps all work well, battery life is decent (close to 2 days with 4G on).
