Which next phone for Sailfish OS 3.1 and after? [duplicate]

Hi there Since finding a new XA2 with Android 8 is becoming difficult at reasonable price, what are the next phone option for Jolla to bring Sailfish on?

I have a XA2 Plus but would like to get a smaller phone and XA2 is the good choice, but i'm struggling to find one new at a reasonable price and with Android 8.

It could be nice to know the plan of Jolla for future Sailfish Port.

How about the PinePhone? With their dedication to FOSS, it seems like a great match. It's also quite encouraging that they explicitly call out Sailfish as one of the planned OSs: https://wiki.pine64.org/index.php/Project_Don't_be_evil#Sailfish_OS_build

Is the PinePhone officially supported by Jolla?
I like the idea of the phone as well and I plan to get one but I don't remember seeing anywhere confirmation for the support.

The problem is about advising newcomers (regular people who don't need to fiddle to much) to get SFOS if there is no possibility to buy a new phone and install it. There should be official ports on 2 form factor, one small and one big.

Pine phone port is a community effort, currently with its fair share of issues, which hopefully will get resolved!

According to the latest Mer meeting they are looking at the Xperia 10 https://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_10-9353.php

There is also work on getting SFOS on the fx(tec) Pro1 https://www.fxtec.com/pro1/

TBH I hope that a (compact) top/premium phone gets support, the Xperia X may be 3 years old but since it was a premium device it is still better then the XA2 and even the Xperia 10 (at least in benchmarks and in some premium features). https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=9353&idPhone2=7948&idPhone3=9543

(The Pro1 is definitely more of a premium phone, but it's also huge)

The Pro1 is pretty exactly the same size as the Xperias XA2 Ultra, XA2 Plus and 10!

Except for being about 1,5 times as thick due to its hardware keyboard.

@olf Snapdragon 835 is a pretty big step from Snapdragon 630 as is Amoled screen vs IPS and 6G vs 3G RAM.

An Xperia 10 at 6"?! No way! If I'm going to get a new device to run SFOS because the Xperia X is falling behind (either hardware-wise or because of slipping support for Alien Dalvik), then it has to be something that is no larger than the Xperia X. My gadget budget has already been blown out of the water over the last year or two. I'm not making any more compromises over something as fundamental as form factor.

@pakman I totally get where you're coming from, I also thought and still think that the n9 was the perfect size, but it also seems that we are a minority or we are too quiet.

@pakman, @Keeper-of-the-(seven?)-keys I'm totally with you. My last device before the Jolla1 was the Z10 from BB. Perfect size. I would be very glad to have a recent SFOS phone with this size.

Some Aldi Süd markets still have some: It is a plain H3113 in its original box by Sony, tightly put into an outer box by Medion.

A great phone to be FLASHed with Sailfish OS for € 179,-!

This question is a duplicate of multiple questions, the latest being "Next Sailfish device?" AFAICS and before that "Next device after XA2?" and many, many more!
Hence please do search before asking.

The "permanent answer" (as long as it is maintained) to these questions is here at TJC:
[Wiki] Available devices, plus rumored and legacy devices, running Sailfish OS.
