Long time ago, when I hadn't heard about MicroG I installed Google Play. It kinda works, but I guess the .desktop file never got created, so no launcher for it. I havevto find an apk to get it lauched :P Now how can I create one and where should I place it?

The folder for the .desktop file is /usr/share/applications

I think copy one of those in there and change the name and the links to point at correct apps.

You also need an image for the icon in /var/lib/apkd

Thanks. I'll give it a go and see.

I found a destop file for Google Settings which I wanted to make a copy off to use. It points to an apk in /home/android/data/app. Alas there is nothing there that could be for Google Play, in fact it's the only one named something with google in the name. What is it supposed to be called?

Probably com.android.vending. I have Google Play on my "Jolla C" Aqua Fish, and have this apk in my /home/.android/data/app

Google Play apk also uses the alternative name phonesky.apk

You didn't mention your device. XA2 with Android 8.1 Support Layer within the /opt/alien/system.img is a whole different beast if you install Opengapps support. The Play Store apk will be inside the system.img.

I'm on a regular X. I have com.android.vending-1 apk and com.android.vending-2.apk but can't find a phonesky.apk. And no opengapps here. What is it?
