Media track info and status over Bluetooth?

Hi,

I have just set up SFOS (3.1.0.11) my shiny new XA2 and am trying to get it to do various things. I have it connecting to my car's Bluetooth interface, most of the time, and it can play music, but does not seem to be transmitting the track information (artist/album/title/track length/current position), at least not in a way that the car (Alfa Romeo Giulia) recognizes. I am using the stock Media application.

Looking around I see several relevant old threads (e.g. https://together.jolla.com/question/111546/audio-artistsong-name-not-transferred-over-bluetooth-to-car-audio/) but they all seem to end a couple of years ago, and at least some of them end with success.

Is this feature (AVRCP) working on current releases? Is it a case of "standards" where everybody has a different implementation so broad compatibility is hard? Do other media players do this differently/better?

Thanks!

Did you search this place for "mpris"?

Nope, bluetooth problems are an ongoing saga for SFOS, if such problems were actually fixed, I think we would know by now, someone or a bunch of someone's would be praising Jolla here on TJ for such a fix.........but, yeah. Best thing anyone with any kind of coding skills, is to address the problem yourself, I'm not sure what Jolla's priority is with fixing this and many other'basic' problems.

I had not searched for mpris, but I have now, though it leads me to the same conclusion that this is just something that nobody has bothered to get working reliably. I'm curious if the problem is at the OS level or the application level? I gather from other posts that SFOS packages such as bluez should support this functionality but information is a bit sparse. shrug I am planning to do a bit of application development here so maybe it will be interesting to dig into this a bit. There seems to be no shortage of available tasks :-)

Seems you are right about your conclusions! The mpris proxy works for me most of the time although I have to start devices and apps in a particular order I never can seem to memorize.

Odd problem playing media player with my new car - a VW: I can turn the volume down (with the car's volume control) but not up! JollaC, 3.1.11 Workround - swich to e.g. radio, turn it up, switch back.

No track info or play controls. On the plus side it connects easily, unlike previous jolla/car combinations.
