Hello sailors,

seems that by last update of sfos the calendar app didn't get so much new stuffs...
For my part i would be pleased to have the followings things:

  • a weekly view
  • some more colors under the days-number (colors of the events), even if they display themselves as Dots.
  • the week number displayed (not just in weekly view).
  • Having the possibility to toggle the monthly & weekly view between top & bottom.
  • And some more details besides like location and if alarm is activated.
  • By creation of event, having more than one reminder.
  • By creation of event, more reminder choice (maybe 6h, 5days).

Would be really appreciated if it will be implemented. Or if someone have other ideas, the let it know.

Have a nice sails.

Cheers

sail forward with a nice todo list view, as CalDAV do that too.

Would also be nice if Sailfish would recognise new calendars added to an account. New calendar created on Nextcloud isn't found snd just appears after account deletion and new account setup.

@Cryx did you make a thread for this? seems to me not a new feature, but a bug. for sometimes i had 2 types of calendar: one from my mail provider, and one from fruux, and it worked. i would say for you that is quite similar, but from same "interface"...

No, and as far as I remember that's already mentioned somewhere here at tjc. Bit it's something between bug and feature do I brought it up here again.

Sailfish does, or did, recognize new calendars on Google account... But with XA2 disfunctional on Google Calendar, it does not anymore, what a pity ;( Google calendar is quite similar to CalDAV, I believe.

Hey people, :-)

I did some photoshopping of the calendarscreenshot (with fake events). The calendar app is so minimal, that it hurts! What annoyes me the most is that all events are hidden behind an underlined number. so to find an event if you have a lot of them you clearly have to tap every underlined day to hopefully find it. I used Android Calendars because of a better overview... but the sync is not working on XA2 for a long time now, so i have to use the native calendar app... I decided to create an immage of what the calendar should look like for business purpose. Maybe Jolla could improve the whole thing... PLEASE Jolla!!! (should not be that much work to make it look something like that)

  • underlined events are whole day events and the different colours are different calendars. (that could also be a background coloured contrast text)
  • Events with long names only display what is fitting in the day-cage (see 12)
  • Weeknumbers are displayed in every Monday (that is a valuable information at least in Germany)
  • Days could also be devided by 1-pixel lines if that somehow fits the current design (but i dont think it does)
  • Update: I added a reminder symbol "alarmbell" on the 9th

@Raymaen that's a great answer with nice ideas, nice "design". i like it. maybe a small icon is missed for the reminder (if used or not)

This layout is just lovely!

At least it looks like the resolution is enough and the fonts are not too small.

Unfortunately you will find to almost every request at least one thread in the archives. The poor calendar app is the only reason why I have to use android support, and within the last years nothing has changed in the native app. I gave up hope ...

@Jolkas: How did you manage to import and the calendar data to the android calendar? I wasn't able to do this...

you can use DAVx5 which allows you to connect android to any CalDAV / CardDAV source. It auto detects new calendars or todo lists and connects to all kinds of servers, including Apple iCloud (which is a bit a weak point in sailfish).

Tried it with DAVx5 but it failed to connect with with memotoo server. The older version (DAVdroid) seems to work, but "Business Calendar" doesn't show any entry.

I had problems with the newest version of DAVx5, I downgraded to make it work. Basically I have Nextcloud-calendars in a cloud and sync via DAVx5 for the android calendar-apps and via the native app for the event-view entries ... that's kind of work, with a right native app it would be easier.

That is exactly what I'm looking for! Very important for me ist the possibility to use it in landscape mode (on the left hand the monthly overview, on the right th agenda) Currently I'm using DigiCal on my Cosmo Communicator (Android), this calendar is great, but I miss Sailfish so much...
