Just trying to send an .ovpn configfile from a Macbook pro to sailfish on a gemini. while pairing succeeds and I can select to send a file from mac os 10.14.5 the gemini (x27), sailfish 3.1.0.11 (edit: of course 3.18.41 is the kernel version, not sailfish version) just reboots itself instead of receiving the file.

I have previously used bluetooth on both devices successfully albeit not for filesharing.

Rename the extension to something like .txt then send it.

@Edz thanks this works, files are received, user and group are respectively "nemo" and "privileged"

It's pretty much always been the same over the last 5 years, can only send certain files and still only one at a time. I see little to no progress on this side of things from JHQ, but hey, that's pretty normal around here. Don't expect a fix any time soon.

Apparently the problem was in the .ovpn filetype, and as suggested by @Edz, a pair of txt files transferred with no issues.
