We want improvements and bug fixes to our Jolla's, right? We have 30 votes daily. I've been following the use of these in general for a while, and I find this guideline useful especially for new members. So, how to be vote-wise?

Edit: 1.0.3.8 is out, so lets start voting of what we want next. Some predefined search links sorted by given votes: Ideas Enhancements feature-requests bugs

After any search, you can add another tag filter (e.g. name of the app) writing it to the box on the right, or a word filter writing it to the search box on the top. Happy voting, let's shout our wishes to the crew!

The Guideline project:

Checking the content here to be added to new guide, topic "Voting" under "Question, answer and comment". Seems that the answer here is quite long (10 dots, 1 with 4 subbed dots). What lines could be removed as not too important to turn this to one nice and simple guide? How to shorten?

The guideline project discusses on these old guideline posts until September 20th, updating and gathering information from here to a new post The Guideline. You're welcome to join the project, for example by editing and commenting this answer.

  • Roadmapped questions, or any of their answers, are not worth voting. They have reached the goal already. (roadmap-tag is granted by Jolla crew to the issues on their ToDo list)
  • [Closed] questions, or any of their answers, are not worth voting (unless the close has been done accidentally, case in which the question should be reopened as soon as possible)
  • If you vote a lot (using all your 30 votes), save those votes for real issues. It's always nice to support and thank people here, but that doesn't get the improvements forward. This is not a chat room nor a Thanksgiving meal – this is a co-development platform.
  • Before voting, it's useful to check some related questions. There might be one handling a similar improvement, but already having lot of votes. It's probably getting a roadmap tag sooner than new questions around the same subject.
  • Downvoting is also away from your daily 30. Use with consideration. Usually a polite comment gets us better towards our common goals.
  • TIP: If there's something you really like to be a part of the next update, try this:
    • Filter your search, first with a single word (bar on top)
    • In the results (if there are too many), filter more with tags (bar on the right)
    • When you have a reasonable amount of results, sort them by votes (bar on top)
    • Select the question to vote. Example: word "attachment", tags "email bug", sorted by votes
  • Voting a question stands for that you consider the question important and would like to see it roadmapped.
  • Voting an answer stands for that you'd like exactly that answer to advance to development.
  • Voting a comment stands for that you value it high or even wish that it was lifted up as part of the question/answer under which the comment is written. A vote can also be seen as "Thanks" (better to vote than write it). However in general, avoid voting of comments. There are probably more important issues for our limited amount of votes.
  • You can vote each single item only once (ok, after an upvote you can downvote the same item and vice versa). So if you have awarded all your daily votes, come back the next day: From midnight (in Finland) you have another 30 votes available – cast them on the other items you would like to vote for.
