[battery] Sailfish OS and overnight (long) charge

Hi Sailors!

I just wonder if the software of Sailfish OS has the potential to deal with overnight (long duration) charge? Does it somehow cuts the power-in after 100 per cent charge? Or in other case is it highly detrimental to battery life to charge a Sailfish OS phone overnight? I noticed that the phone doesn't especially warns about the phone needing to be plugged-out as battery gets passed the 100per100 bar...

Various softwares deal in their own ways with this scenario, and i wondered what is the Sailfish OS situation.

Thanks!

I might be wrong, but I think this is taken care of at a lower level, not by the OS.

I don't exactly remember, somebody wrote here that he usually uses phone connecting to PC by USB cable. His phone battery is good. He uses a script that stops charging at 80% and starts charging below 30 or 40 %. I think, SFOS can more than typical user thinking.

Sorry for mistakes :)

of course it does: The higher the battery voltage, the lower the energy the chagrger voltage supplies. When full, charge current drops to zero. But, as SailfishOS is not so terribly energy efficient, over night battery voltage may drop a little and will be recharged, as long as the phone is hooked up. Modern Li-Ion batteries last for many many full charge cycles, and for even more partial cycles. A less power hungry SFOS would be great.

Charging cut off circuit is not controlled by OS. You can charge your phone in shut off state ....

exact: Charging is managed by your charger's electronics (and battery characteristics).

My XA2 was never under 20% - The sweetspot for a battery is somewhere arround 45% and 85% of charge. I try to keep it there --> no charging over night - instead I charge just a little but a couple of times over a day. (-:
