Security code keyboard layout changed?

I use a pattern as security code for not having to memorize the actual numbers, and the pattern suddenly didn't work. It took a while, and me remembering how I had my credit card closed a while ago[*], to realize what might be the issues. Luckily I have the number of tries insecurely high ;)
[*] I had had a few drinks (t), and visited a number of ATM. Apparently they can have different keyboard layouts. Good to know.
