Hello,

With the release of Sailfish OS 3.2.0.12, my Bluetooth keyboard now pairs successfully with my XA2 / XA2 Ultra, and works quite flawlessly with native application. Thanks for the work so far!

However, with Android applications there are two major issues:

  • Typing text in an Android application drops most of the key presses (90% maybe? Very random behavior...)
  • Bluetooth keyboard layout can't be changed (e.g. ö and ä in Finnish keyboard type ; and ' instead)

It's great to be able to use the terminal with a proper keyboard now, but Android apps still can't take advantage of it... The support is kinda there already, as some keypresses make it through. Finalizing the support would be most highly appreciated.

Thank you!

edit

with sailfish os 3.3.0, bluetooth keyboard suppord in android has been improved greatly - i'm typing this with my k380 - and no keypresses are lost. there are three issues remaining;

  • keyboard layout has no effect; still can't type in finnish
  • shift and caps lock keys have no effect, so typing capital letters and many symbols is impossible
  • ctrl key has no effect, so copy/cut/paste et. al. can't be used
  • delete key does not work but backspace does
  • mute button does not work, but volume up and down work

so it looks like many meta keys are lost in translation. please complete the support as soon as possible. thanks

I have Logitech K380 keyboard, and it works fine (with native apps). What model do you have?

How your keyboard doesn't work? It might be this issue, or the one I linked in the question.

I'm using Keychron K2 and like you with native apps works. On Android most of keys sre lost in space of input galaxy

same here, BT Keyboard works great with native apps, but is a disaster with Android apps

The last time I tried it intensively was with the Jolla 1. It only worked with a few BT keyboards (not ALL!) and only in QWERTY mode within Android apps. No chance to change the layout to QWERTZ. The keyboard mapping between SFOS and Android has never really worked in recent years, not even with the TOHKBD. Many German special characters are not accessible via the keyboard. It is totally useless for languages other than English. This also applies to the XA2 today.

That was, it is and will always be a unsolved problem.
