Software adjustable screen borders

This image illustrate non-intended touch while thumb is moving to left edge swipe. Edge swipe is impossible if any other point of screen is touched. Once again gesture navigaion fails on hardware that is not designed for it.

More case of related fails are metioned here https://together.jolla.com/question/216290/what-may-spoil-beautiful-sailfish-gesture-navigation/

  • Edge swipes are not reliable when cover of protective glass is used
  • Tiny hardware screen borders cause accidental swipes

So it seems that software adjustable screen borders may sovle that and possibly some other potential issues with edge swipes gestures. I think this is important strategic point since Jolla do not design its' own hardware.

Please add pros and cons for that feature.

I totally agree that Jolla / Sailfish OS should improve their multitouch experience, but IMO they should not do it by user adjustable settings/values.

Instead Sailfish OS' Kalman filter should be improved and extended to utilise a palm detection to filter and estimate the intended gesture / touch input.

@coderus What is the default width, if one wants to revert again? 0?

In my XA2 the value was originally 48, checked it with dconf read /desktop/lipstick-jolla-home/peekfilter/boundaryWidth

I changed it to 55.
