Ambience ringtone and messages not playing

I have had this issue for the past year or so. When I switch to a different ambience, sometimes the ringtones and the message sounds will be quiet and/or not matching the settings I have. Currently I am on 3.2.0 J1 and my regular and loudest ambience. Just recently a phone call came on with no ringtone consequently I almost missed it.

Potentially it's a corrupted ambience? It's a little frustrating missing calls sometimes.

Do you have an encrypted sdcard and forgot to unlock it after a reboot? And is the ringtone a custom mp3 on this sdcard? That was the reason in my case... Should be crystal clear but took me an hour to figure it out

Good idea but I do not have one. And only sometimes does the issue occur.

Here is an bit of guesswork, based on my experience. Some things may be inaccurate as I don't see this often, but still: on update, the ambiences are reset to their default values. And the current ambience is applied again, so all custom tone settings are lost. As a special bonus: tone changed done by an ambience change can _not_ be seen in the tone settings, it shows what has been configured before.

I have the same issue here. Each time I switch ambience, the settings for the ringtones and message tones are reset to (a very annoying and senseless) default. I've tried all kinds of combinations, making sure the preferences are saved, but nothing helps.

Maybe another issue, but also a bit impractical: the ringtone volume is not saved in the ambience, so that I have to change two different things.

Hi, I've had the same problem but not lately. Here is the topic link text I did copy the mp3s to music folder in phone memory and it has been working ever since.
