Remorse timer usability

The cross icon on the right of that timer is very confusing. It is placed next to the instruction "Tap to cancel". Surely one can guess that instruction is related to cross icon (since it is control with strongest affordance here). Yes, today I did this mistake for the first time in 4 years on SFOS but since there is no undelete tools or trash bin this single mistake costs a lot.

I agree, the new location of the X-icon is confusing and could cost the user dearly... (Ironically, the usability of the remorse timer is now more confusing than before 3.2.0.12)

To stop/cancel the delete action = tap the timer
To commit/accept the delete = swype timer away
Why is any other/extra button or function required?

I totally agree. It's so out of place, confusing, doesn't fit in design, and just plain ugly. This is not just opposition to change - I have fallen into that many times - but I seriously don't (I was going to write didn't, but I still get confused) know what to do the first split-seconds every time there is a remorse item.

This breaks usability and adds a possibility for data loss.

Make a visual hint instead. That should be possible.

I made a patch that remove the cross icon :-) available from Web catalog in Patchmanager.

We don't need a patch. In my opinion, previous behaviour and messaging was much superior. But...

But it's good to have a patch as a workaround. Although how long will we remedy these UX failures.

What? The X doesn't cancel too? smh That is utter garbage design (combined with the "tap to cancel" text). We shouldn't need a patch for it to be sane.

The new design in 3.2.1 is a bit better regarding the design usability.

BUT I do hate it. We now have buttons stxle workflow but swipe design. One cannit swioe it away but need ti press the left side. And guess what? This is not the same everywhere. sometimes you need to oress the upper part.

Oh dear, what kind of UI/UX design mess ,. I want bacj the old design (and a better keyboard ;)

And it is even worse.

Just the section with 'Undo' on it, does an Undo.

Now everyone would expect that also only the section where 'Deleted' is written will delete immediately. But tapping anywhere will delete immediately!

Consistent inconsistency...

If you are unhappy with current soiltion you can use a patch by kuba77. See Web catalog in Patchmanager -> "Remove the cross icon from remorse timer".

i think the new remorse time in 3.3 is better, BUT still the cross should be replaced with a bin icon. when copying from ios or android, the fully ) i ve already clicked twice on the X when i wanted to stop it and that sucks

Agreed, partly.
A bin icon would be better but still not 100% fool proof. If you do not know that the other part of remorse panel is for exactly what it is meant for: cancel the action.

definitly bad design if the cross doesn't cancel the action.
