Hi!

Since I have my XA2 (several months now) I always get an empty page when I want to share something:

  • Calendar -> Appointment -> Share: empty page
  • Media -> Image -> Share: empty page
  • Notes -> Note -> Share: empty page

I thought it was because of my patches - still the same without patches.

I hoped the updates of SFOS would help - none of them did.

I wondered why nobody but me has this issue - no idea.

I searched for a package that I could probably install or reinstall but did not fine one.

Does anyone have any ideas why this happens and what I can do about it to find out what's going on?

Thanks for your help

Are you trying to share data which is located on your SD card?

@WT.Sane thanks for asking. No it's not related to SD card. It happens also when trying to share notes from Jolla's notes app. These are definitely from internal memory.

Im astonished that nobody except me seems to have this problem as I have it since day one...

Hello, I have the same issue. What have you done about this since then? Factory Reset or asking Zendesk? Pcon refresh does not help... On my Xperia X share function works perfect, not on my XA2. Sorry, I have overseen your question.

@chris7chris I have done nothing more and don't want to reflash. The issue still persists.

I don't know if it ever worked. I tried uninstalling AlienDalvikControl from OpenRepos because it seems to be changing something related to sharing but that did not help. I also tried unapplying all patches but to no avail.

Do you also happen to have AlienDalvikControl installed and are you using some patches?

Hello Yo, Thanks for your answer. Well, I de- and reinstalled AlienDalvic for another reason, but it had no effect on this issue. And I tried as you did to deactivate patches, with the same result as it was before. Now I am thinking about a factory reflash. But that's a lot of work as you know. On my Xperia X everything works well. Maybe ZenDesk could help... If they have time to answer. Update: Now I have asked for a Support by ZenDesk using the link to our discussion. We will see what happens next.

One way to debug this , as hinted at in this comment, is to look into /usr/lib/nemo-transferengine/plugins and find out which packages put files in there.

for example:

for f in /usr/lib/nemo-transferengine/plugins/*
do
    rpm -qf "${f}"
done

and then uninstall third-party packages, and kill transferengine if it is running.

BE CAREFUL not to uninstall jolla-provided packages this way.

I have a similar problem, but I'm sure share menu was there (=not empty) before Sailfish 3.3 update. I have no patches, and only additional plugins are the gstreamer things to enable Alac support.

SOLVED: Ghostcloud caused the problems. See https://together.jolla.com/question/224483/updated-filetransfer-engine-in-sfos-33-might-break-shareui-if-you-have-ghostcload-installed/

Issue solved! Zendesk recommended a factory reset and to check one-by-one that Share keeps working. As result I noticed that none of my apps caused that trouble. After the apps I installed only some of the patches I had before. Till now share function is working. So the culprit must have been a patch that I dont really need. And I learned to be careful installing patches.

So @chris7chris, you might close this question as "Answered" (if it is).

@olf: Why that? How do you know if it's solved for the OP?

Pohli ( 2020-03-08 05:50:23 +0300 )edit

Oh, I missed that the OP was @Yo, not @chris7chris.

Still it seems fairly clear that some Patchmanager-Patch was the culprit.
Hence after unapplying all Patches and rebooting this issue should be gone.
Then one might reapply the installed Patches one by one, perform Restart preloaded services each time, to find out which Patch is causing this.
