Just updated to version 1.0.3.8.

I've started to experience a weird thing happening in the messages app.

It appears to enter some state, where choosing any messaging threads is not possible. Pushing on the screen flicks the whole screen. Its only possible to get out of the state, by rebooting the phone.

I was able to get into the state, by pulling down the pully menu and just let it slide up again. Without choosing to create a new message. It was reproducible every time after reboot, for a period of about 10 minutes.

Anyone experiencing something similar ?

EDIT: @stezz I haven't been able to reproduce it consistently yet. Apart from a period of about 10 minutes after I updated to the new OS version.

Today the same thing happened in the notification view. This time I actually chose the "Update" item from the pulley menu.

And here is a screenshot of it, when it's in the "state". image description

@DrWilken that looks similar to my screenshot - though its from the notifications view.

This https://together.jolla.com/question/22536/bug-twitter-on-events-feed-freezes-occasionally/ describes the same behavior in Twitter feed.

I'm experiencing the same problem... :/

Hi @arnbak I have been trying to reproduce the issue. Here is what I did:

  • Shut down the phone
  • Start up the phone
  • Go to messages app
  • Pull the pulley menu just a bit without selecting new message
  • Release the pulley menu
  • Tap on a message

But I was not able to reproduce the error.

Can you please describe what you do or record a video? Thanks

Just to clarify: I'm not sure HOW/WHY messages app entered this state on my phone (I wrote an SMS yesterday, and didn't check until today when I wanted to write another one and messages app was locked/frozen), but I was able to get out of it by choosing "send SMS" to a contact via the People app.

I just tried it again: Exactly as written. In the messages app, open the pull down menu, but don't select "New Message" -> Message App frozen/locked. Unlock/thaw :) by selecting a contact in People app and choosing "Send SMS"... :) Weird...

The new 1.0.4.20 update, seems to fix this one.

so far I've not encountered this either, but I'll wait for a week at least as it didn't happen every day for me.

It is still happening for me with 1.0.5.19 (in the twitter message list). The list shows up and is updated, but it is not possible to flick it or pull down the menu.

I haven't had this since 1.0.4.20 and I was thinking of closing this.

Me neither. Go ahead... :)

ok, I didn't notice that this is already closed, but today I experienced what @mikelima describes. But it's different from the original issue. There is no hazed overlay and it's not possible to open the pulley menu. The Twitter updates fine on its own pace. The only way to get out from it was restart.

Just happened to me with the Messages app and I have found a workaround so you don't have to restart the phone:

  • terminate the process 'jolla-messages-prestart'

Use on your own responsibility. I am not sure if terminating such process cannot result in the messages db corruption.

this happened to me with messaging too. I was reading SMS messages, and pressed on a message when this "lockup" happened. I don't know how to reproduce, but 'pkill jolla-messages' fixed it for now.
