Coming from Windows Phone / Windows 10 Mobile, and loving my lumia 950 with its great camera I feel disappointed by what the Xperia X I had bought to test out Sailfish offers in this subject. I really fell in love with the UI and System of Sailfish and would like to stay, hence my question what device I could choose which has a decent camera available and supports running Sailfish X. Thanks for your help,

Probably the Xperia XA2. Or... the Xperia 10, with a camera with less MP but some low light ability.

The highest end supported SFOS X is Xperia 10 Plus. For camera comparison, check this video.

Overall, I think newer models have better camera sensors (10 Plus > 10 > XA2 > X).

However, on modern phones, most of the quality comes with image processing in Android/iOS, which SFOS lacks.

I have also a 950 xl. Last year i switched to sailfish (xa 2 ultra). After one year of updates u can use it. The camera is outside of rooms good. In my holydays i took some pictures. Also my wife (ASUS Zenfone 4). I won the comparison. You can use also open camera for pictures for inside of rooms, but i think after the last update the defaultcamera is better then before.

For some kind of photos, XA2 and brothers are better than 10. If you need more resolution, for daily shots, XA2 is a little better.

Thanks for your comments and particularly the camera comparison video podcast. I do agree with the rating that 10 > XA2 > X. I found it very interesting to see the same noise patterns on the X as shown in the video on both devices XA2 and 10 Plus. Just today I was out again with both devices (lumia and Xperia X). The Xperia was good in bright conditions, whereas the lumia excels in every condition. I do also agree that post-shot software does a lot about what's eventually presented to the user (thinking also of AI chips, etc.).
After reading a bit and seeing a Sailfish community ports listing eg the Xperia XZ2/XZ3 (https://github.com/sailfishos-sony-tama/main), I wondered if this is a way to go for a daily driver. So far I don't need any android support, as the base software satisfies my needs. I'm not in need for whatsapp etc. but definitely need a good camera device. Btw, how about those community ports / are there also any other ports for sth like those camera monsters as from Huawei or Xiaomi?
