Idea: add button "Test settings" in Email Account / Server Settings

I just changed my email password at the server side, and changed it accordingly on my pc (Thunderbird) and on my XA2, 3.2.1.20 Nuuksio. But... I get a "Problem with sign-in" that won't go away.

As I checked the password, re-entered it, there seems no option but delete the account and set it again. This may all be a bug anyway. Maybe my password is too long, I don't know.

But the nice option would be to have a button on the Server Setting page to check the proper working of all settings and passwords.

yes, good idea.
But more important would be to get the password renewal work accordingly!

This may be a different thing (but consequence is same): Every time I switched my phone Jolla1-JollaC-JollaC-XA2 I had to setup my accounts anew as I could not connect and entering password anew did not help.

It just shouldn't be required. Test settings?, why?, make the bloody client work right in the first place!, also, when you set up and apply, you are TESTING it and the outcome is "problem with sign in" which is a bit too general and tells the end user very little, much like many other notifications given on SFOS, like installing an app "Oops, there's a problem" > tap notification bubble, nothing happens, no suggestions, no options, nothing, blank, nada, nish....somewhat pointless in my mind, so no, no thanks, no test button.... just fix the bloody problem @Jolla!
