since Version 4.54.3 Signal Messenger checks if there is a newer version available even without Google Services. Updates can be installed in the Messenger directly.

Thanks for that hint! Unfortunately, connection between phone address book and Signal Messenger still doesn't work. :-(

Try to Type on the + in the bottom. swipe down to reloed your addressbook. You can also try to delete the signal useracount in Aliendalvik-control (app from openrepos). But you will only see the phone number of your contacts and no names. This is because the way Signal accesses the phone book has changed.
