It would be cool if we could be able to use external microphones with the camera app or sound recording app when plugging them in. I am using an external smartphone lavalier mic (trrs) which works fine on non SailfishOS Smartphones.

Especially useful for vlogging or audio recordings for podcasts or voice recordings in general.

edit: This includes any form of external microphones. So those attached via USB-C or 3.5mm headphone jack

Somehow scary that so many little things aren't implemented yet in SFOS. Better now than never an entry in TJC can bring some light to this issue.

@Vieno: to be fair, I don't think most smartphone users are even aware that they can plug in an external microphone at all, because they never need it.

I just tested the AUNA MIC 900 USB microphone with the Xperia XA2 and it worked without any interaction. The recorder app uses the external microphone by default.

Great. I need to test the Zoom H2n here but last time it did not work.

I just tried the H2N via USB, using a Novoo USB C hub. Works fine with the app recorder on XA2 Ultra.
