Fonts question

On occasion pdf documents cannot be rendered in either sailfish-office or other readers like mupdf because the document contains "illegal characters". That is probably because the document is relying on external fonts being installed - and I have not installed those fonts. I have the sailfish fonts and the google fonts. What other font packages do you recommend installing to be well prepared for reading most pdf documents? Thanks, Morten
