This question / wishlist refers generally to app stores for Jolla, whether it'd be the official Jolla store / harbour or the Openrepos warehouse.

  • @Jolla store: please make it available through a website, like Openrepos.
  • Clearly differentiate native Jolla apps from Android apps, also in the store. Just a little icon is not enough.
  • Implement filtering of apps (and store these settings in Jolla store): android/native, paid/free, all/new/updated, all/my apps (this is already there), and more ...
  • Organize app information in sections, show the history of the app (issue: update date of an app in Jolla store seems broken, it displays the upload date)
  • Ideally you could send the app from the website directly to your Jolla phone (like with android stores)
  • Implement payment (credit card, paypal) for commercial apps. I'm sure this will boost the number and quality of apps
  • Implement different selling models: buy once, subscription, pay-per use, micro-payment, ...
  • Publish your quality requirements and strengthen your review process. No apps should e.g. implement dangereous workarounds (like giving nemo user root rights)
  • Publish (and force to accept by the user previous to installation) the list of system rights an app needs or uses, what data or services the app will access. This is very important for getting serious and increasing confidence and transparency.
  • Develop an app for checking and blocking basic access types of an app (like in android)
  • Check the uploaded/updated apps through an anti-malware software
  • Nevertheless, try to keep the app update process for already accepted apps lean, quick and easy

  • ... up to you to add more ...

To allow this, remember to check the community wiki box, else no one can edit your content...

I think the Jolla shop and other repositories are / will be a window to the world and help spread this great phone. Keep in mind, you can always grow in quantity, but quality, you get only one chance to do it right, or you may lose your reputation in the worst case.

Half of that is a duplicate or on the roadmap already (e.g. pay apps are coming of course and Android apps will be marked as such in next update). That's why you should keep you're requests separate.

It would be useful to have links to current questions on Together. That way people could participate in those specific discussions. A list like this is certainly nice to have around. :-D

Indeed, it is very much tempting to close this... I'll wait though, since it's now a wiki, there's a chance to imrpove the original content :)

@eric: this issue is way too non-concrete, and as pointed out above the sub-issues are better dealt with separately.

@Tanghus: agreed so let's close this then...@melg01: please check our guidelines tag and try to create 1 item at a time or vote/comment on the existing ones, thanks!
