The camera only shows black, as if the lens could not see anything. Neither back nor front camera work. The shutter button appears gray, even when pressed.

Happened to me as well.

I have a lot of stuff installed from warehouse, jollastore and android-stuff also..

Will try to get some logs together.

I have a small !-triangle next to the "focus box" (the box in the center) when I swap back/front cameras.

odd, that the camera works in android Instagram.. but not in the normal Sailfish OS Camera application.

Can you change the title to clarify that this problem is about the packages not the Sailfish OS version. As your problem was fixed by reinstalling the packages? Didn't help for me though so still looking...

I had similiar problem when i installed Ultimate Codec Support with warehouse, and then uninstalled it. Camera had same problems as you have. Installing codecs again solved problem. I think package replaced some native libs and uninstalling it removed those.

I had installed and removed it too, installing it again fixed it. Actually, I don't remember using the camera after removing that package, so this is not necessarily a problem with the system upgrade. Thanks!

Reinstalling the codec pack didn't work for me.

The camera worked before the 1.0.3.8 system update.

You could try uninstalling camera app and reinstaling it, I did before reinstalling UCS. But it might be some other problem.

kaari ( 2014-02-03 14:51:10 +0300 )edit

how to remove and re-install camera application?

Juuba ( 2014-02-03 20:43:03 +0300 )edit

You can check with installed camera related packages with "pkcon search name camera" and remove with pkcon remove package name. So I would try "pkcon remove jolla-camera jolla-camera-settings", then installing them back with "pkcon install ....". edit: Oh, you got it working, good.

No problem for me on that apps. Try the reboot.

Did you run an andro app which use the camera ? The cam ressource could be held with a bad "unbind" from an other app.

Reboot did not help. I removed android support (I don't use android apps ~at all anyway) and rebooted again, no help.

sahkoamis ( 2014-02-01 14:08:13 +0300 )edit

Have you tried to reinstall the packages?

pkcon install -v -y gst-plugins-good gst-plugins-bad
(or zypper install --force gst-plugins-good gst-plugins-bad)
rainisto ( 2014-02-01 23:28:19 +0300 )edit

pckon install...

This did not help for me.

Juuba ( 2014-02-03 09:37:42 +0300 )edit

Then next thing is to test is to uninstall those 2 packages and then reinstall them back.

rainisto ( 2014-02-03 10:18:36 +0300 )edit

i presume it's "pkcon remove" or something similar?

.. anyways I already reset my device and got the camera working that way.
