It seems like Android Apps cannot bring System Notifications to the lock screen. I believe that generally from the architecture Android Apps do not run in the background if they are not actively opened by the user.

However, generally it would be nice if notifications would be possible somehow at least for currently running apps. e.g. there is an Android App from our local waste disposal reminding me, when to bring out the bin. Very useful with Notifications, very useless without :)

I think it should be possible at least to catch notifications of currently running apps in the Android-Framework and bring these notifications to the Jolla Lockscreen either related to the app itself or at least as "New Notifications in Android".

I would love this. Especially if I could selectively ignore applications.

I use whatsapp (the android one) and put it on a tile. I often see the notification in the tile (the green number in a conversation) but the notification in system lock screen (and in notification area) are very random. This is very annoying for me, and I don't want use mitakuuluu!!

@Andri very good idea to be able to select Android applications and their notifications that are reported on the lock screen.

I think in sail fish we can add accounts like google and facebook and get the notifications any time regardless the screen is lock or the applictions for respective account is not running . likewise if there is a possibility to add whatsapp or any other messengers accounts in settings>accounts section it may be possible to handle the notifications efficiently .

SailfishOS 2 / AlienDalvik / Lipstick uses a whitelist (/usr/share/lipstick/androidnotificationpriorities) for notifications from Android apps.

See this answer for how to add K9-Mail, Conversations, Threema, TextSecure and other apps to it: https://together.jolla.com/question/109180/feature-request-add-missing-apps-to-the-chat-application-list/?sort=votes

There's this post on TMO which explains a bit how the notifications work and why android apps currently running in front do not always bring notifications.

Some people have installed android launchers and always switch back to the launcher before minimising the android app, which guarantees that notifications work (as the app is convinced that it's no longer in foreground).

Only it still is very random. More often than not I get no notification although I'm running an android launcher as topmost app. (However, that MAY be due to Jolla having connection problems. I have the feeling that android app connectivity is pretty shaky) On the other hand, if I remember correctly, I HAVE received notifications while having whatsapp as the topmost app. So yeah... pretty random.

This is so randomly working problem that is why it makes it really annoying. And even if the pop-up notifications don't work it would be nice that the sound notification would work. But nothing... Have anybody seen any solution to this audio and pop-up notification bug/problem?

I do get notifications from whatsapp and other android apps on my lockscreen, though it seems to work a little bit randomly.

Okay, got it now also. Do not 100% understand the system but obviously notifications from Android Apps are shown.

I am not able to see the notifications, at least not with Snapchat and Facebook.

I can't see the notifications for Skype and Wechat on my lock screen. It would be nice to have the LED blinking too when receiving notifications.
