Hi guys! I have a problem: I have sports tracker on my sony xperia x F5121 (Rokua / Pure maps) i can show all my data, start a new activity, but the GPS signal shows : waiting GPS.... After a minute the GPS signal is okay ..but never shows the current location... so i can't start an activity . Sometimes when GPS signal is good, shows: you don't have google play services and your device isn't compatible .... i tried to install google play services, google maps..

the situation : i just need this app working on or another sport app to sync with strava.

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem both with Xperia X and Xperia 10. Both are running Rokua. GPSInfo finds some satellites but sports tracker does not find any. It is just waiting for GPS and just the time is running but the distance remains 0.00. I even removed ST on Xperia X, resytarted the device and installed ST again from Store. No help. As a long-time ST user I would like to use it but seems to me that I need to spill some blood and rattle chickenbones to make it work in Rokua.

There's been very few times I've been unable to get Sports Tracker to get a GPS signal. I don't think the problem is necessarily or solely a Sports Tracker one but sometimes the location services on the device.

Each time a device wants to use GPS location the GPS receiver uses an almanac to know what satellites it needs to acquire. The almanac needs to be kept up to date so if there has been an appreciable time since last use or the new location is some distance from where it was last used the almanac will not be correct and it can take extra time to find the new location. That's one of the reasons why there are options in "Settings" for "High Accuracy".

One method that seems to help is to open another app that uses GPS (like Here) and wait for the that app to locate your position. After that Sports tracker seems to work.

One other thing to check is that "Location" is turned on.

Finally sometimes it all gets tied in a knot and restarting the phone or Android services is the only way to get GPS going.

Thank you, Alan. It seems to work now. However, ST says "Waiting for GPS signal" during the whole exercise. Anyway, the route can be seen with a browser on a laptop. It just took a veery long time before it started recording. I started ST on 2 different phones just to check. Waited for a while, maybe 5 minutes and started cycling. The route recording started about 5 minutes later on Xperia 10/Rokua. Your explanation of the calendars and delay in finding satellites makes sense. This was the first time I used ST on Xperia 10/Rokua.

I use the same phone, puremaps with laufhelden, it takes some time to have your location pin pointed, sometimes a minute sometimes 3, it goes faster if you keep on the same spot when searching for location. From then on I can run and GPS keeps following. (You might consider to turn on network for GPS assistance)

I'll try out. I thought laufhelden isn't working ( Due the last comments)

Whenever I need a fix I start GPSinfo first. It seems to get fix way faster and after that all apps have the position .

@tamarindojuice Laufhelden still works perfectly - only thing is that the developer (Jens) does not maintain it anymore, hence someone started a fork. (I personally think it would have been nicer to take over Laufhelden or contribute, rather than starting a fork, but hey)

Sportstracker does work even though it doesn't show your position. It records your activity perfectly and you can upload it at the end of the exercise to the Sportstracker website. I use it all the time.

I was using Laufhelden up until I could no longer upload my workouts to Sportstracker.

Due to the need to the need for Google Play Services it isn't possible to see the map on your phone, but you can see them on the website or any device (like a tablet) that has Google Play

But the situation is: My GPS signal seems good even that sometimes says about the incompatibility due the google play services ...

but when i start an activity ... the app not shows the distance or pace... is evetything like a 0. just the time is running

Alan, I am not able to upload the track to website. :) There seems to be more than one question to this...

@tamarindojuice I don't know what's happening in your case. I know it can take a minute or so for Sportstracker to get a GPS lock and while it's doing this there is a message at the top of the screen saying waiting for GPS. While it's in this state there is no distance or pace information, but once it has a GPS signal these fields work normally. Perhaps try restarting Android support under Settings, or uninstall Sportstracker and re install. FWIW I have a Xperia X 5121 running 3.3.0.14 and Sportstracker version 3.39.2.

@potski Are you talking about Sportstracker or Laufhelden? Laufhelden uploads are no longer working, well at least to Sportstracker.

If you are talking about the Sportstracker app, then to upload the activities you need to make Sportstracker sync with the Sportstracker website. The way you do this isn't obvious, well it wasn't to me anyway. On the Start screen pull down somewhere in the middle of the screen and you should see a an orange arrow that starts to rotate, as it does so it will turn green which means synchronisation is complete.

If you are doing this and still have problems then all I can say is try what I suggested to tamarindojuice.

For the GPS part it is working, but it was reported before and I can second that you have to move around, not just couple of meters, but from my experience something like 20-30m at least. Some reported that walking is not enough but from what I have tested it was not bad.
