Jolla Other Half with true infrared thermographic ("night-vision") camera? [not relevant]

To my knowledge so called "night-vision" apps on smartphones are fake apps not really detecting infrared light to large amounts. CCD camera chips are sensitive to infrared light, but regular cameras prevent significant detection of infrared light using light filters. However, a Jolla phone other half could contain a CCD chip with infrared light detection enabled to create a true thermographic camera. Thermographic cameras use to be quite expensive and the design of such a camera for the Jolla other half has to consider image quality, precision of temperature measurement vs reasonable cost. But maybe there is a practical solution. To use the Jolla phone to detect a heat energy leak at your home or finding your lost dog while taking a walk at night is really a tempting idea.

Probably connection over WLAN is necessary to deliver all that data. Good idea.

Nice idea. Some people use such cameras (probably better and with more features) to detect humidity/water leaks in buildings. Why not to give the other half a try?

Upon further researching this idea I found out, that a project to integrate an infrared camera into a smartphone has already been funded by kickstarter.

From the kickstarter @immo linked, the http://www.melexis.com/MLX90620 chip provides a 16x4 matrix (64 pixels) with an I2C interface. For anything better in resolution, cost would increase fast and at some point I2C won't be enough. I can't say which resolution is needed/comfortable for this OH...
