Xperia 10 stuck in landscape if sideways when booted

If I have my Xperia 10 sideways when booting all applications are shown in landscape mode, even if I hold the phone upright. Swipes to background and top menu also acts as I would hold the phone sideways. Home screen is still shown and acts as portrait mode.
