I tried setting up a proxy for one of the wireless networks I connect to but as far as I can tell my phone refuses to route through the proxy.

I don't know if this is due to 'autosensing', the wireless network I connect to does have internet without the proxy, but proper https won't work without it so the store doesn't work...

As far as I can tell neither the browser nor the Jolla Store respect the proxy setting and use it.

EDIT 2015.03.17 (c.la): After update 11, still there is no app (except the browser) that is capable to access internet over a proxy. Not even the Jolla store, let alone other apps that require network.

Please honour the proxy at the OS level so all the apps requiring internet access (even android ones) can access internet through the proxy

EDIT: Using SFOS 3.0.3.9 (on Xperia XA2) I just wanted to use a proxy and I am unable to use a proxy configured for a WIFI access point.

same here with basic settings as well as pac url it seems like libproxy or pacrunner doesn t use the settings provided by gui. it is a bit painful while on a corporate wifi

also note that device does query wpad with dns to find some auto config. however it never goes to request wpad.dat

Not doing wpad is (I think) a good thing, wpad is very dangerous from a security point of view...

it is not ! some vulnerabilities have been discovered in microsoft implementations but it is not the case anymore. firefox, safari, chrome, ms ie all allow a "auto discovery" for proxy settings. it is widely used on corporate networks.

Thanks for reporting and sorry for the delay in answering and fixing. For the browser the proxy support was missing since the browser engine (gecko) was configured to be build without libproxy support, we have enabled the proxy support in the engine and the fix will enable proxy support in an upcoming update.

This does not yet mean that all possible proxy configurations and use cases will be supported, but we are working on improving the support.

At our company we have to use the proxy for internet connection. So the proxy settings are interessting for all apps and not only the browser!

@veskuh Any update on this? I have raised another question also to see that if there is any work-around. I am tired of paying for data when I am staying in 24 X 7 wifizone. Please help.

It seems to be a bug in the 'connection checker' which determines if there is an internet connection or not. The Browser is the only app that ignores this status as it needs to be used for captive hotspot authentication.

I might see if I can hack the connection checker, its possible to redirect it to a local web server on the phone. This will most likely cause other issues but will check whether other apps can access through proxy or not.

Same problem with 2.2.0.29 (Mouhijoki) in 2018. Proxy settings are not applied. Neither in browsers, neither in any application. Defining an environment variable (http_proxy) as described by Pedro works but only for the commands launched from the shell.

It seems that the proxy setting are not applied again in 3.0.1.11 (Sipoonkorpi). Worked just fine in the previous version.

Proxy settings also have no effect on the latest "Torronsuo" release (3.2.0.12). No application seems to use a proxy. The browser can be configured to use it though.

The issue seems to still exist in 3.3.0.16 (Rokua)

I tried to solve it with setting the proxy manually in the browsers about:config, but the values for proxy type and http proxy port can not be changed.

The device used is a Xperia X. And the proxy is a http proxy.

I now tried again: If I use the global proxy settings it works. But I do have to switch it off manually if I change to mobile data communication or other WiFi connections.
