Are there already ports for Android 10/Kernel 4.14 devices - and (when?) will there be offcial support from Jolla?

I guess the future candidates for SFOS, i.e. open devices that can be flashed with Sailfish X, will all be running Android 10 with kernel 4.14 out of the box. Therefore none of the current SFOS images will suit these devices.

This makes me wonder about activities in the community and @ Jolla whether there is an Android 10 based image in the pipeline.

I know that this question is somehow related to other questions like this one or this recent one

And I know that is hard for Jolla (the small boat) to keep pace with Android (i.e. Google, the giant cruiser). But then again there are great ports for Sony tama devices (XZ2, XZ2 compact and XZ3) that would be worthwhile to be adopted by Jolla. Even if these ports benefit from Jolla's work for the Xperia 10 (and thus require Android 9, not Android 10) i get the impression that support for Android 10 devices should be doable.

As Jolla indicated, Xperia 10 II would be a candidate. But this phone is not among the open devices yet. [Update: Xperia 10 II was just added to the open devices]. OTOH, Xperia 5 and Xperia 1 are Android 10/Kernel 4.14 (only) devices that already are in the open devices program. Are there problems with AOSP for these devices?

Even better: could there be a Android 10 based port for the XZ2 compact? It would be a great compact device that could overcome some problems with kernel 4.9 (rinigus please correct me - and please apologize if this is complete nonsense)

So please Sailors, give us a tiny hint about your course towards new hardware support (+ a new browser ;-))

sailfish-browser seems to be under development currently, it's being updated to next ESR version (52)..

XZ2/XZ2c/XZ3 are getting harder to buy and they use AOSP9 currently. In this respect, its not the best for starting new AOSP10 port. By the time its ready we will be out of the devices, unfortunately.

As for Tama port rebasing to AOSP10, that will have to wait. Ideally, I would do it after some other ports on AOSP10 would appear, wait for AOSP10 improvements (not sure if all is working there perfectly). Main current SFOS/AOSP9 is a camera, let's see when it gets improved on AOSP10. Otherwise it does not make any sense to switch

Thank you @rinigus! Sony XZ2 compact is so great - I mean small. That is why I like it

XZ2/XZ2c/XZ3 are too old and too expensive. not interesting. Pinephone would be the next alternative

Cool! I have been refreshing for quite a while their page and the latest update was 25th May. Adding it to the open devices is the first step to potentially get a port at some point..
