While the email folders are using the normal Silica Ambiance theming, once you open a message, it has an uniform white background. This looks both out of place & can be quite uncomfortable when reading emails with low level af ambient lightning. As there are other apps showing lots of text on a Ambiance themed background (Notes for example), this really feels like a bug.

Steps to reproduce

  1. open mail app
  2. click on an email

Actual outcome

email opens with a white background

Expected outcome

email has the same background as the folder using the Ambiance theming

Hmm ... when this wil be changed, I vote for in-app config "don't follow Ambience, make own interior".

I need read emails, not look on transition effects .. For mi this is not bug. This is usable look.

Ambience is awesome .. but not ergonomic.

Sure, should be configurable - it is just that black on white burns my eyes in darker settings as rest of the system is not that "shiny". :)

Edited title, please don't use bug tag for suggestions/feature-requests or things you don't like, it just makes things harder to organize and track.

i ll like too reading email in low light can kill an eye currently. But having ambiance background will works only with text, with html things can be unreadable (depends on level of marketing of the email :) )

Maybe using the dark single color background as in launcher/icon view with white font color would be a good solution. The folder background should be darker, see also here

in addition i would like to have a "view mail as plain text" option. AT LEAST an html version without loading images.

The email app uses different background brightness values in folder view, mail view (top area) and info view. The higher brightness used in the info view reduces the contrast and readability.

If there is some reason for the current behaviour, it might be useful for Jolla to share it with us, to help other developers in their choice.

How can I force the background color in email app message reading view to something else than white? It seems to be quite impossble to choose a highlight color that is readible both on dark and white background. The yellow highlight color that comes with TOHKBD ambience essentially makes all links, phone numbers and other highlighted email content almost invisible.

I don't consider this as a bug if it only feels like it..

BUT

There is a bug with white view. When you got new mail, you open notification center, click mail... You got White screen with no text on it. You have to swipe left to have list of inbox, then click that new mail again to see the message
