What happened to Symbian should be instructive for times to come... Is there a way to download & store SFOS installation files so that,

when bad times come, Jolla will have moved to other business, SFOS support will be gone and will be in desperate need to reinstall SFOS from scratch?

Has anyone learned from Nokia/Symbian story?

You can save with installation files you downloaded when first installing Sailfish X. You can also get newer download files later on and use these for reinstallation. Just make sure the Android version is not too new to be supported.

I've successfully backed up the LVM partition in recovery mode on my XA2 with dd and managed you restore it using dd. It booted as I've just reboot the device as normal.

If you want flash files for the Jolla Phone, Jolla Tablet or Jolla C, Auqafish or some Russian phones these are unofficially available on the Maemo Talk Forum. However I've not tried using these builds myself so use them a your own risk.

Hi Louis, thank you very much for your answer; i'm rushing to register to maemo forum :)

I wonder why Jolla doesn't provide such a facility by default...

Jolla are not allowed to release firmware for these devices due to licensing issue as far as I know. You don't have to register to access the forum posts and download the firmware images.
