New 1.0.3.8 update introduced \ character in vkb to support faster address entry on native SF browser

For the next up date it would good to add @ to mail app vkb instead of current , (comma) character.

Dublicate of this => https://together.jolla.com/question/11176/add-to-1st-alphabet-page-of-virtual-keyboard/

The thing is, it's already added in certain places - e.g. when logging in to webplaces (example: Google (you must be completely logged out - then you see it when placing the cursor in the e-mail field)) - so it's just a matter of using that keyboard for the Email app (at least up in the To/Cc/Bcc fields) as well!

It makes sense for the email To/Cc/Bcc fields but not the email subject or body itself. If the original question suggested that, you'd have another vote otherwise I'd vote against.

@phle, @aegis and @jgr

Thanks for the valid comments above and below. That was also my original intention, but was not able to indicate that clearly enough in the question.

Should I update the original question or do we let the votes split between my original comment and answer by @jgr?

The tap and hold tip of the "?123" button is great thank you for bringing that up as well.

@Upp15 - Thanks for the tip on dublicate question, I think I even saw it but was not able to find it :(

Perhaps it is good idea, if you will update your question to request vkb update related to the Email address fields only... Additionally you could also retag your question with email and vbk tags, then both questions will have uniformed tags for searching.

I'll close the questions as dublicate.

No, do not replace the "," (or ".") by any other character in general in any application (comma is a much too often required character, much more often then the @). You may however replace the "," when within an e-mail address field (as noted by @phle).

(as I wrote in my question-comment) The keyboard variety already exists - the only thing missing is to have the To/Cc/Bcc fields in the Email app recognized as the e-mail address fields they are.

@phle: I've read you comment (and it prompted me to allow for @ in address field, however I should have referenced you -- done), but the heading/question still requests the @ for all fields of an e-mail.

@jgr I saw your great vkb layout guideline already earlier, but for non-linux and average Joe user such as my self, the customizing is most likely too demanding. However I am tempted to experiment and to try out customization up to certain level that's the beauty of Jolla that user actually can do their own customization.

@jgr - Hm, true.

I added a question-comment over at "Add '@' to 1st (alphabet) page of virtual keyboard", that I think reflects that opinion (yes to "@" instead of ",", but only in e-mail address fields, and including the To/Cc/Bcc-fields in the Email app).
