This issue started after latest update 1.0.3.8 Naamankajärvi. While the device is shut down and plugged into charger, the device won't reboot when holding down the power button for a few seconds. Phone screen will remain black and pressing on the power button once will light up the white notification LED and pressing it again will turn it off, but the device itself won't boot up.

Holding down the power button will shutdown the device and the red notification LED is shown for a few seconds.

One must reboot the device with charger unplugged in order to get the device operational and boot up normally. This problem was not present in earlier 1.0.2.5 Maadajävri update (at least on my case), but it seems there have been similar reboot issues with multiple users in earlier update versions too.

Can someone confirm this issue?

Update: Made a couple of factory resets, but the problem is still present, when updated to the latest 1.0.3.8 update.

PS. I'm using N9 charger which has worked well so far.

I already had this issue with the 1.0.2.5 update. I'm not sure why you didn't have it.

It was working fine on previous update and I don't remember having this issue on Maadajävri update.. I did however a clean install to Naamankajärvi update with factory reset.

Just tested to reboot.the phone with charger attached by prrssing the power buton, and the phone shuts-down, no red-led, aftetr a short-while the big charger-connrcted indicator apoears and shows the charge of battery with the chord symbol there. After that nothing happens, and if power-button is pressed the screen turns of and white led starts blinking, pressing button again and charger symbol and nothing. Pressing the power-button.a long time the screen blanks and finally ref led turns on and the drvice does not respond to anyting at all. Not even when charger is disconnected, ohobe stays off, and red led is constantly on. So, confirmed: no reboot when charger connected. Actually , device gets to state from which it wakes it up just after removing/inserting battery, and powering then on.

Edit did it again, and now it seems to be workkng.. It seems that after device is off, and staets again the chargung symbol appears twice and pressing power button after that second time, the device boots. So, sorry for mistakenly confirming this.

Noticed excactly the same behavior just now. The battery went low enough for the phone to turn off. After I connected it to the charger it would show on screen that the charger was connected. When trying to boot it the start screen "jolla" shows up for couple of seconds and then goes black, along with a red led.

Thought it was cause I tried to boot too early. Unplugging the phone and starting up got it going so thanks for that!

You have to wait a short time (1 ... 3 min?) until the plug is connected to the S symbol on the screen (changing to S symbol to a simple square with an indication of the rate, the battery is charged). Then press the power button, until the Jolla is written on the screen.

This was the same with 1.0.2.5 already, no change in behavior.

Jolla logo appears after pressing the power button (the plugged in charging symbol) and notification led flashes, but it doesn't go to actual reboot. Also noticed the vibration system gives slight vibration pulses on constant timing, but screen remains totally black.

My impression, booting takes slightly longer now than with 1.0.2.5. However, your description looks like a specific bug on your device, not a general one.

Perhaps you're right...
