Suggestion - Swipe to clear single Notification

The ability to remove a single notification from the notification list by swiping it to the right, thus avoiding launching the program for viewing the event.

In all other OS's you can now swipe away notifications, but in Sailfish ("the gesture based Sailfish OS" as per the website) you need to long press and then push buttons to achieve the same.
Swipes to the side don't work Swipe up doesn't work Swipe down doesn't work if you're not at the top of the list
It's a problem...
Another possible solution, or at least making our lives a little easier:
Alway show the delete buttons (no long press needed). Also, for right handed users (large majority!) the delete buttons should be on the right instead of left!!!

I think this is good idea and should be included in Sailfish 2.0 which adds too many tapping anyways. I know there is "carousel" homescreen in 2.0 which makes this bit more difficult to implement, but it coud be done for example this way:
Long press on noticications to enter "swipe mode", basicly same thing you do now to clear notifications. Only difference would be that you could swipe several notifications in this mode without having to tap that quite small cross to clear single notification. After all wanted notifications would be swiped to right, you could swipe to left (or select "done" or similar from upper right corner). Maybe option in settings to select which way user wants this behavior...

I would love that as well. There was a patch for the previous releases. I'm a little afraid swiping might collide with the new stupid arrangement of the events screen (which requires side-swiping as well).

It requires to slight change of navigation gestures model. For now left/right swipes are used for Home-Events-Home carousel, and clearing events by swipe will interfere with this way of navigation. (I guess it's time to raise separate issue for navigation since it cause at least two significant limitation).

How about a "Clear all notifications" button right beneath the weather plugin on the notification screen? This would be a simple and easy way to remove all notifications at once.

You can already clear a single notification in Events feed by long-pressing the event, and waiting for a menu to appear from which you can press Renove to delete the notification without launching the respective app.

Sure you can, but @flywheel's suggestion of using swipe gesture seems much more comfortable than the current push-wait-point method.
Even then I would rather like to see the swipe-to-right gesture opening the respective app. The same gesture could be used also in the lock screen for the same purpose (remember the N9 way). Swipe-to-left could then discard the notification without opening its app. This could also be consistent with the lock screen behavior.

Yes the N9 gestures are.excellent, and I.also would love to have them in Jolla too..The problem being that in SailfishOS / Silica UI there is nothing like that in the gestture set (a gesture that eould drag a single UI element to either side when pulling it. So the sugestion is actually asking for a conpletely new swipe gesture.

This also would make items handling in apps like Mail and Gallery more intuitive. But I'm not sure if that requires any addition to the framework or if it is possible already now.

The current way of doing is not fluid enough. A swipe.gesture to quickly remove notifications would be perfect!

I like the way it's implemented in the email app: close either by using the context menu, or by activating the 'mark' option in the pulley menu and then deleting all marked.

Since 1.1.9.28 the UI reserves all flick and swipe gestures on the Events view, making this impossible to achieve (until the needed gesture is somehow made free again). Sorry for this, I would have loved to see it possible myself as well :/

@fluwheel The only way I see your suggestion possible would be long hold + flick, but that wouldn't be any faster than long hold + tap (the current implementation). So, let's reopen this if a suitable gesture becomes free again.

ps. You can actually use swipes even on Android apps, using an additional hold in the gesture (keep one finger on screen while doing the swipe with another finger)

As a mod, doesn't hurt anyone to keep it open. Furthermore we have really odd ideas sometimes and mindstorming topics (skunkworks) too.
