Eventually losing all stored ambiences based on images on SD card [duplicate]

I have created a few ambiences from images stored on my SD card. Every now and then all of these are lost, even though the image files still exist on the SD card and I did not modify them in any way.
However, ambiences based e.g. on camera images remain.
I have not managed to force this to happen, but I noticed this twice after restarting the phone and once just after installing the snow white ambience after snapping on the white OH.
Maybe it is a temporary SD card read access problem which causes these ambiences to be cleared.
Workaround, of course, is to copy the files to the local file system.
