In Status area I see sometimes wlan icon with exclamation mark - what does it mean?

WLAN icon with a star tells that wlan is available, but not connected.

It actually means there might be a problem with the connection. It could mean a default route is not set, or it could just mean the online check failed, and the connection could work just fine.

in my case, the IPv6 is connected, but the IPv4 isn't... and this happens alot with me

iirc, it means default network route is not set, so while some local network can be available internet should not be accessible yet (until "!" is gone)
