Please look at SailfishOS/tutorials/signal and see how C++ and QML interworking can be achieved. and there is always website: http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-5.0/qtqml/qtqml-cppintegration-interactqmlfromcpp.html#connecting-to-qml-signals

I tend to experience that the www.qt.io examples seldom works in SailfishOS, it's like the SailfishOS version of qt5 is heavily crippled against the mobile qt5 released by Digia.
