What features do you desperately need?

This is a list of missing features that we desperately need, sorted by votes. Feel free to add more, but only with a proper link to a question, so we can also vote on specific questions.

The Jolla crew uses the tag roadmap to show requested features forming part of a defined plan. There is also a general roadmap and a development roadmap.

Note: The numbers in parantheses {xxx} at the front are the votes each question had collected. If it has an -R after the number it indicates the roadmap tag is present, a -r? indicates the Jolla crew responded positively to the question but the roadmap tag is not present.

EDIT: Automatically updating list here, and the features tracked by Jolla here. As we already have these options via search, there's no need to update the list below. Return to default view here, or manually by removing the filter(s) and sorting questions by activity instead of votes.

EDIT2: There's a similar way to do that for bugs. Requested fixes here, those under work here

EDIT3: Just for fun, here's a list of bug requests ;) (let's work together to remove either of the tags on these)

Last time fully updated on 29 June 2015.

Let's try to keep this updated, at least after each Sailfish release!

While not a roadmap feature, additional keyboard layouts (official that is) is what i'd like to see.

SailFishOS/Firmware updates that don't require the user to open a Jolla account.

  1. Less restrictions for harbour-apps
  2. Better user control over apps access to hardware/data
  3. More API documentation, so things that aren't done by Jolla can be done by others, together with 1, several points on the list could be done by the community.

The idea was not to ask which are most important on the list, but to create a list of features that we would like to know some sort of roadmap related time-frame on. I suggest you vote on the items on the list that you find important. That's why I added links to the relevant questions. :-)

Thanks for your feedback though. :-)

@avdwoude i see, thank you for the clarification. nonetheless, i have nothing to add, these two are on my top. yes, i voted for them.

Some form of of an utter reflash. I understand Jolla by default cannot do this because they cannot distribute the Qualcomm Binaries, but I've suggest before an application to pull the existing binaries on the devices off it, merge them with a fresh copy of the system OS and be able to flash that as one big partition

Do you have a link to a current question on the topic I could link to?

avdwoude ( 2014-03-22 12:49:12 +0300 )edit

https://together.jolla.com/question/2135/enable-4g-lte/ It mentions LTE generally, current implementation (possible through third party app Radio Switcher) does not allow sms/calls while LTE is on

Thanks I've added it to the list.

//UPDATE: If I understood this correct, CSFB should only be necessary for handover from LTE calls to GSM calls. For this first VoLTE has to be supported by Jolla. CSFB support should be added after this.

What you mean is VoLTE (Voice over LTE) which is currently introduced by many huge mobile network providers (speaking for Germany). The customers probably will get access to VoLTE in mid 2015.

So this would be a great feature for the Jolla phone!

More information can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VoLTE

Being able to easily queue albums in the music player is the thing I'd like the most.

The only thing on that list I'd like is not having to have an account, but I'd probably use one anyway.

Offline maps WITH voice navigation.

For me it is one of the most important things, because I work a lot in different countries. And not everywhere there ist such a good infrastructure like in Europe or Northern Amerika. So without a net youre lost with your Navigation-App, if its only working online. Voice-Navigation is a must too, because normally you have to keep your eyes on the road. Especially in foreign countries. For me the N9 was the optimal solution, with its downloadable maps.

I fully agree. Have had the N9 since launch myself and still use it for the maps/navigation until Jolla matures. Android tools for this is NOT an option for me here since I want to keep the phone 100% Sailfish native, I do not even have the Dalvik runtime installed.

I use Here Beta from Google Play and it works great. Has voice navigation and other goodies. These are the same (Nokia-) maps that are used in the native application. And speaking of native - yeah that would be cool, but until a player like Nokia makes a native app with all the Android functionality, a looot more Jollas need to be sold. Till then: this works.

shertell ( 2014-03-23 16:54:23 +0300 )edit

This is a definite, the ausot manufacturers are now fully suppoprting BT and the PBAP so should the phone. I find it frustrating that my old HTC One has this support but my Jolla doesn't. Also here in Australia we need to be completely handsfree for phone use.

but that works to some extent. My koss headphones works with the button. But never in the android environment. In fact, many hardware features doesn't work in the alien environment. Like direct wifi access fir tools like wifi analyzer, Bluetooth access for serial port (car diagnostic tools etc.). It feels crippled in android from that aspect.

2.0.4.14 works for bluetooth FYI headsets with buttons in Android apps

DarkTuring ( 2016-11-23 21:45:10 +0300 )edit

SFOS provides the functionality, the buttons worked on the turing phone, its just the Jolla and Intex hardware thats lacking it.

MMS messages is most important for the reasons mentioned in the referred post. Also this is needed for getting mail etc settings from my operator.

My second wish is ability to use the mobile certificate located in my SIM card (http://www.mobiilivarmenne.fi/en/#kenelle). It's use possibly dependent on the MMS messages too.
