What features do you desperately need?

This is a list of missing features that we desperately need, sorted by votes. Feel free to add more, but only with a proper link to a question, so we can also vote on specific questions.

The Jolla crew uses the tag roadmap to show requested features forming part of a defined plan. There is also a general roadmap and a development roadmap.

Note: The numbers in parantheses {xxx} at the front are the votes each question had collected. If it has an -R after the number it indicates the roadmap tag is present, a -r? indicates the Jolla crew responded positively to the question but the roadmap tag is not present.

EDIT: Automatically updating list here, and the features tracked by Jolla here. As we already have these options via search, there's no need to update the list below. Return to default view here, or manually by removing the filter(s) and sorting questions by activity instead of votes.

EDIT2: There's a similar way to do that for bugs. Requested fixes here, those under work here

EDIT3: Just for fun, here's a list of bug requests ;) (let's work together to remove either of the tags on these)

Last time fully updated on 29 June 2015.

Let's try to keep this updated, at least after each Sailfish release!

While not a roadmap feature, additional keyboard layouts (official that is) is what i'd like to see.

SailFishOS/Firmware updates that don't require the user to open a Jolla account.

  1. Less restrictions for harbour-apps
  2. Better user control over apps access to hardware/data
  3. More API documentation, so things that aren't done by Jolla can be done by others, together with 1, several points on the list could be done by the community.

Thanks I added it to the list.

good idea but a security risk unless other apps can be prevented from reading notes, like create hidden contact notes the rest of the phone doesnt have access to

Some form of of an utter reflash. I understand Jolla by default cannot do this because they cannot distribute the Qualcomm Binaries, but I've suggest before an application to pull the existing binaries on the devices off it, merge them with a fresh copy of the system OS and be able to flash that as one big partition

Could you provide a link to an existing issue so I can add it to the list? Thanks,

  1. working connection and handovers between WLAN and cellular, even with WLAN that requires authentication in browser
  2. search in email
  3. logical and well performing browser. In Jolla browser it seems to be mystery when new tab is opened and when not. Also gets stuck or lags far too often. 4.scaling in browser and especially in mail so that text is readable without zooming in
  4. backup of contacts and content to younited cloud

Is your first item on the list still an issue with 1.0.5.16? As for the others, could you check if there is also a question on them in Together? If not, please create them. I need them before I can add the issues to the list, that way people can discuss the question and even vote on them. Thanks.

I was really disappointed by discovery that the native "Gallery" app does not sort photos and pictures by filename. Also i would like separate folders for photos and images in the said Gallery.

Swype (or swype-like) keyboard. This isn't the same as a simple additional keyboard layout (already on list), since it does rather a lot more.

Absolutely needed. An issue already existed on Together, which I have added to the list.

Autostart applications or widgets similar to Android on the home screen

i think autostart is a good thing. they need a autostart handler based on systemctl with root privileges and is not simple because there are a lot of features that you can configure.. but it is a good problem for the future :)

Avahi/Bonjour support.

Having to connect to the device typing the IP every time is a PITA. Even more so on IPv6-only networks.
This is great for ssh/sshfs, and other connection mechanisms, but also opens the door for other things that depend on it.

Possibility to unzip, unrar... uncompress tar.gz and others in the file browser. Using, maybe, the pulley menu?

edit flag offensive delete publish link more

Comments

You can install "unrar", "7z" and "tar" through openrepos, after that you'll be able to uncompress everything from the terminal.

To go further, you can add xdg-open rules to execute a command from the file manager. (I didn't tried yet, but it should work,)

Does a question already exist on Togetther about this? If not could you create one? Let me know what it is and I will add it to the list.
