It is essential to have a web interface for Jolla store to be able to quickly browse through list of available apps, see and write comments, rate applications, etc. not only from the Jolla device. This would allow prospective Jolla owners to browse and review the already available native applications.

Requested Features:

  • Account sync / rate / review / etc from browser. Since we can have single owner having both Jolla Tablet and Jolla Mobile devices, should be able to add mutiple devices under a account.
  • Device Based filtering of installed apps
  • Allows to flattr a developer
  • Remote installation
  • Qr code for applications and installation device using the code
  • Share app details on social media

Folks - Please feel free to edit this and add your vision for the web interface :)

Update: Just realized that Ubuntu Phone apps can be browsed - https://uappexplorer.com/apps

Remote installing apps from this would be pretty neat imo as well.

Like that with google's play store.

And it could also show a Qr code, that could be read with QR code reader on-device to install the given app. :)

I believe on strong reason to have this on web platform is - Prospective Jolla owners can have a look at the already available native applications.

Actually reading on the original motivation "This would allow prospective Jolla owners to browse and review the already available native applications." it sounds like the app store should NOT be browsable on the web until there is a decent set of native apps to attract prospective owners :)

@Artem > LOL. Maybe thats what is holding this feature perhaps! I added it later, dont think it was mentioned by OP.

Why not make this Together-forum the web-interface of the Jolla Store (or at least integrate this to it). Now many application-related requests, comments, reports, suggestions and ideas are posted here or to store or to both. It would be very natural to use this forum to integrate client, user, and developer side interactions to same place. Also, the comments left by users (recarding applications) would this way reach the developers more reliably, and the whole community that is already gathering here could see the Store-spesific discussions, needs, experiences, and thanks.

Summary: there should be a developers-corner here in Together-forum integrated with Store / Harbour content (comments, updates, changelogs, possibility to install apps, and to converse with developers).

Update: to support this here is a suggestion to have unique app-spesific tags in use in this forum to make it easier to collect and find all conversations relating to one app (already released to Harbour/Store)

I agree. There should also be an easy way to tag topics with applications. Maybe in the future versions of Sailfish one can report bugs, ideas and other feedback directly from the application?

@jjaone some data integration would make sense but I thought about something more like Nokia for example had..QR code idea from @MartinK is good, but what I would like to see more is ability to choose apps I want, and then just launch Store on phone and start that apps downloading and installing.

Proposing the integration of this forum and store comments sections as a Jolla Store Web -experiance would benefit greatly users and developers. This way the app-spesific review informattion and feedback would be readily available in Q/A-form (as in this forum), Also ChangeLogs, feature-reguests etc. could be shared in public,

To have it in combination with an active Q/A-Forum might really benefit the feedback and the bug-reporting, but imo the main idea behind this request was to be able to QUICKLY see available apps etc. As seperate section could be easier for most mainstream users.

Disagree: Why should 3rd party app bugs be discussed here? This is not in the scope of together and jolla. Also it is - from a users perspective - redundant to the harbour (or warehouse). If an app needs more Q/A than harbour offers, it's in the Devs responsibility to deliver it.

I fully agree with the need for a web-interfaced store, but quite disagree with this forum being used for this.

Whatever tags we'd use for it, a forum is a forum, and searching for a given app would drown us into a range of parallel threads with no consistency.

I'll use this forum to discuss a given app, of course, but comparing it to a dedicated portal --and worse, considering the issue closed since the forum exists, to me is plain wrong.

(and yes, I'm a prospective user, waiting for the arrival of my tablet ;-)

It's not a direct answer to the request, but I want to talk about a project: Josh. It is a simple Sailfish OS 2.x apps catalog. It isn't official and just a hobby project.

Is it pulling the data from the same place where the Jolla Store client does?

martonmiklos ( 2017-09-23 21:24:15 +0300 )edit

In order to prevent misunderstanding, this project is not mine. As far as I can see the text comes from here and it needs to be updated manually. And screenshots and icons come from cloudfront.net. So the answer is no, I guess.

So bad. If Jolla would release some kind of spec about the Store used web API that could be integrated to this stuff.

martonmiklos ( 2017-09-24 22:56:12 +0300 )edit

I have reverse engineered the Store API and I have a partial Python client for it. However, I'm not sure if I can publish it due to terms of service / EULA: https://jolla.com/legal/
